Not only did I enjoy watching a great game on Wednesday, when our youth team beat Norwich, I also spend the whole game sat talking with a man who I made friends with on here tufc01. He is a top man and really great company, we talked about the forum and many other things and he asked me one question.
“How can you drive all day long, I hate driving and hour to work and back?” Its simple, I love driving and while I drive 1200 miles a week, I only call on around 25 to 30 customers and my job is so stress free, just what you need when you are much older.
So I could not understand how I felt this afternoon, normally I just drive from town to town and never think about the miles beyond the next town. But here I was looking at all the miles left and for the first time ever, wishing them all away. I think maybe I’m just a bit worn out more than usual this week.
So it was great to get home at last for the weekend and come on the forum and have so many great posts to read today, mind you I don’t think greystar is going to shut up and until Ireland get a replay. ;D
Last weekend was a great start to the week, our match day thread was nearly ruined by some silly name calling I’m afraid and Jim had to clear it up, but then we know why that happened. Chris Hayes put a happy smile back on my face with not one but two great reports complete with excellent photos, and while not a rugby fan myself, I enjoy his Sunday report and loved the pictures.
Budleighgull has posted some wonderful old programmes and timbo has been in overdrive, putting up many great programmes for Torquay V Rotherham games from the past, you wonder how he gets in his front door, as the house much be just full of programmes from floor to ceiling.
Barton, Jon and merse have as we expect from them, made great contributions on the forum and Steward and phipsy have added some interesting posts in the history room.
Aussie seems in a much better mood this week and now that he is leaning to make longer posts, it seems he thinks he is now merse. As these words keep slipping into his posts “please read carefully!”
A great first post by stefano has made it almost a perfect week for me this week so many thanks to everyone who has posted and added some great views and colour on the forum this week.
So who is our best poster of the week this week? It was a three horse race and both Chris Hayes and timbo were beaten in the end by a single point. This weeks winner is not afraid to air his views, I have had a few good old arguments with him and what I love about him is, he has his say and will then listen to what you have to say and most times we have found we were not that far apart in the end in our views after all.
I think the match report he put up may have been his first report? Maybe wrong but it was very welcome and much needed on our match day thread.

Having seen both the Cheltenham FA Cup game last week and the Shrewsbury game yesterday, it was striking how different these games were.
If last week's game was a typical incident-packed FA Cup game (albeit with the unusual spectacle of two penalties in the first half), yesterday's was a typical attritional lower-league battle. Shrewsbury were clearly struggling to overcome recent setbacks - characterised by their subdued, morose even fans (some of whom took to booing their team's substitutes in the 2nd half after we took the lead). United on the other hand took to the pitch reasonably high on confidence after a run of hard-fought and well-earned results and the hesitancy and lack of confidence seen during away performances this season at places like Dagenham, Bradford and Macclesfield was notably lacking.
At no time at all did this game ever represent a classic, but it was the kind of game and performance which is needed on soggy, wintry away fixtures and on which league-survival is built on.
Bucks opted to place Stevens and Carlisle on the flanks with a central midfield of Hargreaves and Thompson. Sills played up front, with Jake Thomson playing a less advanced position behind Sills. The logic behind Buckle's thinking appeared sound. Although the chutzpah displayed to such exciting effect last week was missing from his performance yesterday, on a couple of occasions Thomson almost broke through, but on the whole was kept in check. Shrewsbury on the other hand had a couple of tricky wingers (particularly the gloved one mentioned above), but their finishing was poor and I only recall Poke having one (excellent) save to make throughout the first half.
At half time Buckle brought Stevens off for Benyon, putting Thomson out wide. The second half changed when Charnock got sent off for what looked like a lunge in the 53rd minute. Bucks decided to withdraw Thomson for Ellis. Thomson didn't look too pleased to be taken off, but it was the right decision in the circumstances.
The rest of the game saw us under a fair amount of pressure. Benyon did an excellent job of holding the ball up and making a nuisance of himself. Credit to him also for managing to stay on his feet on such a greasy pitch - something that can't always be said of Elliott.
I thought Hargreaves was superb yesterday, just edging the excellent Wayne Carlisle for MoTM imo. He never stopped talking to and encouraging his teammates and he deserved his goal, even though it took a deflection. A team with more confidence in front of goal than Shrewsbury might have made more of their second half pressure. True, they did equalise and looked to have scored shortly before that, but on the whole their finishing was abysmal. Our work rate and constant harrying and hassling however did not make it easy for them.
As for the Pro Star Arena, I have to say I was impressed. Whilst it has none of the atmosphere of Gay Meadow and is distinctly lacking in character, the facilities are good and it's easy to see how a ground in a location like that could enable Shrewsbury to host football at a higher level than League 2.
