It’s nearly a week since the forum was opened up so guests could read our forum. As expected the number of members logging in and has dropped, but the guests numbers have increased as I also expected.
I’m very pleased that Leigh has started our forum pages in the matchday programme for tomorrows game, with the news the forum can now be read by anyone, I hope as a result we will see more now visit the forum. It will take time the news to get around, but once it does the posts you make will get a much bigger audience.
One big advantage of having the forum open is that now the search engine bots crawl over the whole site, before they could only crawl the front page of the forum. This means all sorts of searches based on the content on the forum, will lead people to the site. I wonder if it’s the reason when I just did a google search for our forum, for the first time ever, we were on the top of the page and not some other forum.
The good news is that over the weekend the forum was very busy and enjoyed so many great posts, this continued all week with Thursday being a bit quieter, but then Thursdays always seem to be for some reason.
So on too the best poster of the week. Stuartb was not able to do what only one member has done and get a back to back win, only Alpine joe has done that so far. Stefano racked up a few good points and even Aussie got one.
This weeks winner is such a good and regular poster on the forum, his posts all make good sense and he gets on and makes his point without ever upsetting anyone, a model forum member in my view.
This weeks winner is ohtobeatplainmoor very well done and fully deserved.

It's understandable that the Consortium are looking for fresh injections of cash to the club at this stage of their involvement- and hopefully some additional vigour, ideas and business contacts.
I suspect that there has always been an "open ear and open arms" to listen to any offers of assistance - as we saw last year with the appointment of an Associate Director for the Youth set-up. I'm sure that over the last couple of years that addititional funds and involvment would always have been welcomed, perhaps it is just a case of there being a more immediate necessity?
After the "pump priming" to get us back in the league when the crowds dimished hugely last year I would expect that any cash reserves are running fairly low (and certainly there are loans that have been made by the Consortium to keep things moving forward - or at least from slipping backwards).
The club also recognise that a higher quality player is required for this league to sustain the momentum going-forward, or at the very least prevent us from slipping back to the BSP. It seems that they are doing everything that they can to help Bucks and the noises and actions that have come from the club seem very positive.
Player recruitment is just one area of expenditure that the club have targetted - the investment in the infrastrucure that is required to be a professional football club in more than name only has been just as vital for the present and future wellbeing of the club.
I think that one thing that will be top of the list on the sort of person that they want to see join the consortium (other than a fair bit of money!) is the right personality.
Whether you liked Bateson or not, you knew that he would have to have a very tight control on the club and how things are run and democracy in terms of other board members, club staff or the supporters wasn't a priority for him - the currect Board and Consortium certainly do not seem to have one outspoken member and present a united front.
Keith Richardson also came-in with enormous fanfare of a fantastic and uplifting forum held at the TRC just 2 1/2 years ago (seems so much longer though!) and he would have been a "man at the top" but slipped out of the side door straight more or less straight away. Let's face it, although he seemed to be very wealthy, even he admitted he knew nothing about football - especially running a football club! The lack of knowledge of running a club isn't dangerous in itself (if there is a Chief Executive with the footballing experience of Colin Lee) but it would have been inevitible that he would have imposed his rule on the running of the club and I suspect that it would have been a disaster if it was he that had control of the club when we kicked-off the first BSP season.
I'm expect that there will have been differences of opinion last August / September with the start we made to the BSP as to whether Bucks was the man for the job just as there was with the supporters. There was never anything but uneqivocal backing for him though.
I'm sure that there will be people out there with the funds and the interest to work with the club, but I suppose that things have got to be right for both parties. People with the sort of money that is needed do not usually get to where they are in life without being driven, savvy and in control of their business affairs so it won't be easy to find the righ person or persons.
Who knows, maybe Mick Sadler will want to go one step further and put a bit of money into the club to help increase the value of his current SIPP (I can't see it myself though!)!
However things have been over the magnificent strides forward sinve May 2007, there has always been the consistency from the club in the way that it presents itself - it isn't always perfect (sometimes the lack of noise coming from the club frustrates many, but it at least demonstrates that it isn't an "empty vessel"!) but it has got us to where we are.
It is vital that this is maintained as we move forward, hopefully to even better times.

I've been impressed by the progress that Benyon has made in the time that he has been with us. His finishing (in my opinion) has been at least as good as any other striker in his time here, but it is his all-round game that I think that has developed so well.
Sills seems to have struggled more with the step-up to League 2, but he is still fairly lethal in the air, works hard, gives defenders the run-around and is talismanic for the team. A model pro.
I was unfortunate to miss the game on Tuesday, but to read the reports that Zebs and Rendell played so well together doesn't surprise me at all. Zebs is very powerful with so many attributes to his game that could make him a decent living out of football - to get him back as been a massive boost to the whole club. Personally I prefer him up-front than on the wing, but as long as he is in the team I am pleased.
Rendell has blown hot and cold - but has shown some very intelligent play, very neat touches and clinical finishing on occaisions - a very good option to compliment a parter with the attributes of Zebs. Perhaps we are going to start to see what he is all about on a consistent basis - the last two matches have yielded two goals.
I think that most strikers are "confidence players", the goal that he scored on Tuesday was a neat finish - as was his goal against Port Vale. I cannot see him being left-out of the starting line-up on Saturday and I firmly believe that he will be a useful outlet up-front with Zebs.....
When it comes down to it, form is a huge factor as to who will start up-front. Despite the results and performances clearly improving, there will be more barren spells for whoever plays up-front, this is likely to see quite a lot of rotation.
I think that if there are going to be any departures in the transfer window then it will be Sills. His proven record in the BSP will surely see at least a couple of clubs at that level with the resources (or perhaps ones that are prepared to take a gamble that he might be the missing piece of the jigsaw to get them promotion) to make a bid for him, especially if he has a spell on the bench.
I'd be hugely saddend to see him depart after the contribution that he has made in his time here - "that goal" at Wembley was something that brough huge joy to so many thousands of fellow supporters - no-one will ever forget "Zorro", but when it comes down to it, Bucks has shown that there is no room for sentiment in his squad selection and he will do whatever is right for the club.
