Well here we all are then in the year 2010 and the TFF has made it as well, the next milestone for the forum will be its second birthday in May and it sure has come along way from its 1st birthday and I’m ready looking forward to doing a post on that day.
I never really stopped to wonder what this year will have in store for me; I gave up looking too far ahead in my life when Carol became ill. Up until that point I could see in my head so many years away, me sat in a deckchair with my trousers rolled up and a hankie on my head.
Life now is just really about today and the hope that tomorrow Carol will wake me up as she always does, if that happens then I know I have a whole day to look forward too and if I could the day would never end, because deep down there will always be a fear of just what tomorrow may bring.
No time for anger, no time for falling out, no time for being unpleasant to each other, but plenty of time to make sure we both show how much we mean to each other and how glad we are that we are one.
We will at some point later, book our holidays at work and we will spend some time thinking about what we will do when those holidays come around and they will be something to us look forward to and I do feel its important to have somewhere to head for.
I set the forum off on a course and set a place I wanted it to get too and I do believe it has got there now and whenever anything you planed and worked hard on, gets to where you hoped it would get too, it really does make you feel so good.
The TFF is very well established now and I firmly believe it will continue to grow and just get better and better, yes we will see members come and go, but I’m sure just like Torquay United has it hardcore of fans, the TFF will also has it own real hardcore fans, ones who will need their daily fix they can only get by coming on the TFF.
What a great bunch you all are on here, I never expected we would be the big family we are, being on here with you all, has given me so much pleasure and made my life just that bit more special, so many thanks you really do play such a part in keeping old Dave wanting to get up every morning and looking forward to reading your posts.
So who is the first winner of the year 2010, well I’m sure if Jon could have dragged himself away from those self service breakfasts a few days earlier, he may well have won it this week with his great report on his time in Bournemouth, but he just spent too much time trying to arranged all the bits on his plate, bet it was nearly cold by the time he got to eat it.
We had a dead heat for the top spot, both winners for the very first time; one has been a regular poster on the TFF and has made as usual some interest posts over the last week. The other winner made what may be his first match report on the TFF? Well it was a nice report and I hope he treats us to many more.
This week’s winners are Petef and Honitongull well done to both of you.
Some posts made by Petef
Benyon played well and was as good as any today so the question of the best pairing is debatable as Rendell had little time to impress when he came on late in the game.
The pitch was very slippery under foot and just the type to cost a hamstring or two but in
all honesty we just failed to really get going today and credit to Hereford who did their home tactical homework resulting in a pretty disjointed but good in parts display from our lot.
Our biggest threat Thomson won us the penalty by simply running at defenders in the box a quite wonderful weapon in our armory for the time being at least.
There were some good moments from us and we were perhaps a little unlucky not to get a second when Hereford were pushing and we were breaking and we did happen to create all the best chances and I can only remember a couple of times when I thought we might concede . Luckily Poke was alert with a save with his legs from our old friend Constantine in the second spell and a shot that whistled just over the bar late in the game were the only real concerns and our defense was excellent again though I do wonder how we would have coped with a more capable attack. Robo won MOTM which tends to illustrate the way this game panned out and Smith after a torturous start to the game when he got booked early on after struggling to cope with their wingers pace and trickery, got better as the game wore on.
Be it 5-0 or 1-0 the its still a very valuable 3 points in our fight to consolidate and climb the table and at the end of the day scrappy 1-0 wins always tend to make up a large percentage of a season.
Only real disappointments was the 3500 + crowd who just failed to get behind the team and rouse them on and the 100 or so from Hereford out sung us for 90% of the match, and the fact the ref didn't send off Valentine for an outrageous and potentially leg breaking tackle in the second half - as bad as any I have seen at league level. It was lucky that Thomson just about saw it coming in time. Shameful.

As we are now a proper football club the decision of who stays and who goes should not be a sentimental one.
There will always be weaknesses that need to be addressed on the playing front even if we were at the top of the league and the continuing introduction of better players should be ongoing and fluid. It has to be accepted, and fortunately Bucks realised quickly that certain players who shone brightly in a league below would struggle at this level. It was never blindingly obvious that they would be so cruelly exposed and Bucks has given them their chance to stake a claim but with his job and the clubs future at stake if it went tits up, changes had and still have to be made and will continue to be made regardless of what has happened in the past. Thank goodness that it is being done calmly and and in a sensible manner well before the real alarm bells rang out. There was a plan "B" thankfully.
Its going to be an interesting period as finances will dictate the calibre of player he can bring in so its seems inevitable that one or two of our loyal heroes from the previous two seasons will have to be offloaded and I send them a huge thank you and wish them every success whatever club they eventually end up at.
I don t believe Hodges, Brough, Adams, Rice, Todd, and Joyce and `will return or figure in the managers plans which leaves players who now appear to be on the perifery who may want regular first team football and may even command a fee. Greavsy you can leave out of this as he is involved in the coaching side but the names of Tim Sills Kevin Nicholson come imediately to mind also , Mustapha Carayol, Danny Stevens and even Mark Ellis who I reckon played a big part in the "turn around" and has been unlucky once again not to hold down his place. As well as ability we should also remember what loyal and great club guys they are and its so important at our level that any new players, irespective of ability, integrate quickly just as Adam Smith and Jake Thomson have.
Honitongulls report
A great performance by the team which added to the fury at the final whistle about a highly debatable decision which has cost us at least a point.
Great following by the yellow army. I would say there were at least a thousand there supporting.
We started the game really well and were well on top for the first twenty minutes. Bournemouth came into the game more as the half went on but it was fair to say that we shaded the first 45 minutes of action.
Unfortunately for the referee he booked a couple of players very early on for minor fouls and this set the standard for the rest of the game.
The second half started with bournemouth having a good spell before a good finish by Rendell sent the yellow army into raptures.
The rest of the second half seem to go on with chances at both ends. Feeneys great finish for bournemouth seemed to ensure that both teams would end up with a point.
Smith passed when closing down on goal and a chance we had was wasted. The referees performance seemed to get worse as the game went on. Poke was then booked for alledged time wasting. This decision was only given after the referee had reacted once again to the bournemouth supporters.
I cannot say whether it was a penalty or not too bournemouth in injury time as very difficult to see from 70 yards away. However, my bournemouth supporting brother in law was in the home end and he stated " it was never a penalty ". Mr Singh obviously saw something that the majority of the people in the ground didnt. The penalty was tucked away and that was that unfortunately.
A very disappointing end to a game in which we played well. A referee decision has ultimately cost us and you could see from the players reactions at the final whistle that we felt hard done by.
However looking on the positives we played well away from home and if we continue to play like that we will finish comfortably away from the danger zone. That is the only comfort today from one of those days when it feels like we have been proverbally kicked in the teeth !
