Some superb days out remembered and excellent friendships formed. Wonderfully when I turn up at an away game now most of the individuals concerned are still found in the bar.
How did we find the time to produce and sell that magazine on top of our jobs?
How did I get home from Barnet that night?
Will we ever get to go to the Three Pigeons in Halifax again?
Is the Birkbeck still in existence without the once yearly arrival of thirsty CGs?
.........and more importantly, who is up for a pint or two of Black Sheep before the match in York on Saturday?

I had some great days out with the CGs when I travelled down from Scotland to games in the North (of England) or near London. Are any of you going to York? Do you have a meeting place in a pub or the YCFC social club before the game? Would be good to see some old(er) faces.

Planning to be there as have talked the wife into a weekend away to see York Minster. I haven't yet broken the news that The Crescent isn't the same as the one in Bath but is of the Kit Kat variety.
I am assuming the meeting place will be the pub that's around 200 metres from the ground - can't remember the name although The Maltings is another one which has been a historial favourite earlier in the lunchtime.
Whilst of the subject of Yorkshire I have just remembered another of my favourite days out - a minibus trip to Scarborough for the away leg of the play offs. The mini bus was a banger and we set off at some unearthly hour from Eversholt St Euston. It took hours but it was worth it for the company, result and fish and chips!

The mini bus was a banger and we set off at some unearthly hour from Eversholt St Euston. It took hours but it was worth it for the company, result and fish and chips! That banger was the Fishing Club bus from my old work. If you think WE looked a motley crew in it you should have seen the occupants most weeks! One day when they were setting off for a day by the sea one of those dreadfully over keen and "PC"eager young bosses was showing an unhealthy interest in the goings on and stated his wish to join the lads on their next trip which happened to be a November sea angling excursion off Dover. "What's the dress code?" the pillock asked................. 'oh not the usual guv - best suit, collar and tie for this one as we're dining out afterwards' - and he did! That trip got back so late from Scarborough with a nasty little detour off the M1 before Luton that I ended up driving you guys all over London because so many last Tubes and trains had been missed, but it was worth it wasn't it! THAT pub in York by the ground by the way, is the BURTON STONE but it's crap now...................better drink at the Maltsters in town and then the Supporters Club at the ground. They're a friendly lot in there, although I shan't be there myself. I may take a trip down to Hampton & Richmond Borough to catch up with Hilly's Dorchester. Nice little ground that - The Beaverie, and not far from your house - shame neither you nor Rigsby and Miss Jones (who live equally close by "up river") are able to make it....................should anyone else fancy a day down by Hampton Court, PM me.

Maltsters Merse - I think the guys are going to York this weekend not Tuckenhay!!
It's the Maltings old pal, on Tanners Moat, and one of the first places you showed me the delights of the real ale, as well as the real cider with bits (of who knows what) still floating about in it!
And it's not one of Romford Kev's favourite places, as far as I can remember from one of his famous strops!

Anyone who can confuse Blackhorse with Golden Lion, Maltings with Maltsters should never have been born behind a boozer as I was. There's no blue plaque commemorating the fact, but I first saw the light of day at the back of the Cider Bar in NA.................so it could be construed that I am in fact fruit based!

If memory serves me right we were all rather mesmerized by the barmaids impressively large chest A veritable "Builder's Bum" of magnificent quivering magnitude......................at first I thought it was a "Mae West" worn because of the propensity of the place to flooding, then that she had her shopping in there and I contemplated offering to carry it home for her after work. No wonder my ex missus cracked me over the head with a full can of Coke whilst we were tonking it back down the A1 that night when I failed to answer her question - she probably guessed correctly that I was day dreaming of those treasures of ancient Jorvik!

I should point out that Merse was actually driving the car, which was rather disconcerting for us other passengers who were present!

The Maltings, we have heard those Capitalgulls talk about the place and we know they were all rather mesmerized by the barmaids impressively large chest and yes crooky has done one of his famous pictures of the place, so here it is for you all to see an enjoy. The pub is located right by the River Ouze and floods regularly.
