Here are a few snaps taken at Gardiners Close - home to Basildon United of the Essex Senior League. This is a club that has to survive on crowds of approx. 40 throughout the season. Needless to say, players DON'T get a pay packet here - they are all playing for the "love of the game." THE MAIN STAND (behind you can see the Ford Tractor Plant "onion" that dominates the Basildon skyline)  BACK OF THE TERRACE (this sight greets you as you come through the turnstile)  SIDE VIEW OF MAIN STAND (in the background you can see the afore mentioned "terrace")  THE "OFFICIALS" SEATING AREA (the height of luxury)  TRAINING FACILITIES (these are found in a rough square of land behind the Main Stand. The building in the background is the rear of the clubhouse)  CAPACITY CROWD (this is as good as it gets)  MAKES YOU REALISE JUST HOW LUCKY YOU ARE TO HAVE A PROFESSIONAL TEAM ON YOUR DOORSTEP, DOESN'T IT? |

by the way great to see Danny Stevens coming on the pitch in pic 1
