I suspect dazgull will be a welcome addition to this site. Somebody who, if my suspicions are correct, invariably has something sensible to say.

Well most of them have been watching Torquay so that has helped. I stopped at Tiverton level as there are lots of Devon leagues ones I have been too and stacks of South Devon league grounds too but couldnt be arsed to put them up.

Had visited the Atspeed on several occasions.... watching my adopted team play (Tonbridge Angels)... loved the chilli-burgers on offer but had to ask the medics for an oxygen mask when making the trek up to the top end to watch the second half.... that pitch had some serious slope to it! I'll hopefully be popping down to Worthing mid-Feb to see the Angels take another 3pts!

Let me know when it is and i will try and join you. It is not far from me at all.
I must admit i didnt notice a slope at the Atspeed. There were over 1000 fans there for thr last game and it is a shame that league rules dictate that Horsham YMCA, next door as you know is not allowed to be used.

Well i went to my first Pre Season Friendly today. A first visit to Eastleigh's ground and it was like a Torquay old boys reunion. Wayne Thomas of course in Soton team, they did play their first team. Michael Poke listed inthe programme.
Whilst on the Eastleigh side making his debut Marcus Richardson - he had a goal disallowed. But as substitute goalie was a name from our past GARETH HOWELLS!!! He is now goalie coach thier and 39 years old, was 21 at the time!!! Had a real good chat with him after the game and we were taking about the Blackpool game at Wembley in 91 whem he scored the penalty etc. He seemed really chuffed having a chin wag about those days.
Anyway for those who have not accessed this part of the board here is a thread for you to keep a record of your Ground visits. You can modify after each game of course...

Adding Cams Alders to my new ground list. Fareham v Cove a charity preseason friendly with all monies going to Macmillan as this was in memory of Tony Kempster. With a £1 donation requested to get in and a £1 programme as wel if wanted consider the crowd at a head count was app 110 (great crowd for a PSF at that level) to raise £270 is very touching.

Adding Cams Alders to my new ground list. And I was at the Camrose today... Two grounds, I'm afraid to say, at which I didn't see Torquay United back in the late 1980s. The shame of it....

Still no idea of how many grounds I've visited and a mental list only - nothing written down - of ones still I want to "do." But, after visiting loads of new grounds over the last two years (due to a combination of circumstances), I suspect this season will be relatively quiet. For sure, I'm not anticipating so much South West non-league this year and - overall - it'll be less quantity and more quality (I hope). Nonetheless I can always be led astray....and, needless to say, there will probably be a few unexpected trips. One "new" ground (for me) this pre-season was Bridport for a game against Weymouth one wet Saturday (of which we've had a few). Watched by a crowd of around 300, it was one of those odd occasions when a July friendly will probably attract the biggest crowd of the season. Weymouth won 3-0 - with a mixture of triallists who will probably bear little resemblance to the side which kicks off the season - and, on their forum that evening, somebody pointed out it was their first win since Plainmoor. As for the forthcoming season, I see in yesterday's NLP that Steve King (the former Lewes manager) expects both Weymouth and Lewes to struggle in Conference South. Bridport's ground is a modest affair with a neat newish stand (with seats), a pretty utilitarian social club and a rather agricultural-looking structure on the river side. See the pictures below nabbed from the excellent Pyramid Passion at pyramidpassion.co.uk/html/bridport.htmlBridport itself is a lovely little town which appears to be flourishing after years in the doldrums (it really has some splendid buildings). Walking around, you sense money has either moved in or discovered the area as fertile second-home territory. Media and literary types, perhaps, rather than Totnes-style alternative (witness the Bridport Literary Festival and branch of Waterstone's for evidence). And a question for you: what is Bridport's link to the 1966 World Cup? St Mary's Field, Bridport: pyramidpassion.co.uk

I do think you need to sit down and start writing them down Barton, you could then always add any ones you missed as you remember them, don't worry your list won't fill up the server ;D
