I wonder when our club put out its first programme? That's an interesting question and I'd love to know the answer. I've transferred it to this thread because Northampton - together with Bournemouth of this season's league opponents - were a club we faced in our very first season in the Football League. In fact the Cobblers were the oppostion in only the third Football League match ever played at Plainmoor on 17 September 1927. I wonder if anybody on this site has ever seen any programmes from that era? As for this 1947 issue, an appeal within the pages this time for soap and soap coupons. Mention too of "tonight" and "this evening" on that September Wednesday in the days before floodlights. So what time was kick off? 6pm to get it in before night fall? And - don't forget - ROAR 'EM HOME (it's a great help you know).

Tim can I please say a very big thank you to you for all the great treasures you post in our history room. We have stood together more years than I care to remember on the popside and both fondly remember all the years dear old Roy was one of our gang, I do miss that dear man so much as I'm sure you do as well.
So the club has not got any soap? and asks the supporters to bring in soap coupons, what a magic time that was in our history.

Not knowing a lot about the war and how things were afterward, do I take it that as building materials may have been in short supply, that a Ministry Of Works Permit was needed, or was that just like planning permission is today.
£335 spent on ground improvements and the Popular side was banked, but no roof was put on it, due I expect to lack of money and this Ministry Of Works permit.
