That Home Park programme really has the smell of 1950s Plymouth about it; a time and a place I just about recall as a very, very small child. Plenty of things beyond my recall of course: dogs at Pennycross; formidable personalities in the Argyle boardroom (Tozer, Blindell and Gillin); pasties from Ivor Dewdney of, er, Birmingham (an offshore convenience to avoid some sort of pasty tax?). And Beechwood Devonshire sausages from Brown, Wills and Nicholson. Well, actually BWN is a name I remember from my formative years spent sitting in my commercial traveller father's car as he did business on Plymouth trading estates. What did happen to all those old businesses and advertisers? They pass through like ships in the night.....
