Result: 4-0 (Pym 2,Cox,Swindells). Attendance: 4971. Another fascinating programme and particularly memorable for me as this was my first season of watching United. What is particularly memorable is that this was one of the early games in a remarkable sequence of home games. In 11 games (10 league & 1 FA Cup) from a 4-2 win against Hartlepool on 11 September to a 3-2 win against Halifax on 21 December we scored 46 goals and conceded 14, winning all the games. We only scored less than 3 goals in one of those games, all of which were won. Included in that sequence was Newport 8-3, Bradford (Park Avenue) 6-2, Barnet 6-2, and Chester 5-0. As a new supporter I did of course think it would always be like that!  |
