Jack Edwards' first appearance at Plainmoor - a place he was to see a hell of a lot more of.
The famous Jack Butler now coaching in Belgium. Palace with a centre-half who had been playing for "one of the leading clubs in Madrid" (presumably not THE leading club in Madrid then). The world has gone crazy - we'll be signing a Jugo-Slavian before you know it.
Reserves at Gravesend. You'll be telling me next that they'll be building a Channel Tunnel and changing that club's name to Ebbsfleet after the train station that will send trains under the sea so that Jack Butler can commute to work.
Our first team would be at Gravesend the following month for an FA Cup tie.
Sounds like a right dodgy ref at Gravesend. Plus ça change.
