Note the ex-Busby Babe Albert Scanlon on the left wing for Lincoln.
His crosses from wide out on the flank were as good as anything David Beckham has ever done and were the clear highlight of this otherwise really drab game.

Note the ex-Busby Babe Albert Scanlon on the left wing for Lincoln. Albert Scanlon who died just before Christmas… www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/obituaries/article6966705.ece?token=null&offset=0&page=1Rod Richardson is a new name to me – just a handful of games before heading to Boston United. John Rossiter was to play a couple of dozen first team games. Must have been a pretty wealthy butcher’s son to have been educated at Millfield unless he was on some sort of scholarship. Google the name and there still appear to be a few prominent Rossiters around Kingsbridge. A list of South Hams footballers who have played first-team football for Torquay United, anybody? You don’t need too long a memory for one or two….

Believe it or not I was offered one too at the age of thirteen which would have seen me switch to QES Crediton due to my rugby talent.........................I turned it down, much to my mother's chagrin; there was no way I was wearing that poncy black and amber striped blazer and cap, going to live in boring Crediton AND missing out on my regular visits to Plainmoor! John became a police officer on finishing with professional footballer and it was my privilege to meet up with him during one of the CG's match sponsorships (The Boys of 66) when we were only too pleased to invite him along to meet up with many of his old club mates from all those years ago! At the time he told me how he was a regular fan and rarely missed a Plainmoor home game ~ a lovely unassuming man and a pleasure to have been able to make him so happy that day!
