Below are a few pictures of GORINGS MEAD - home to HORSHAM YMCA of the SUSSEX COUNTY LEAGUE DIVISION ONE. THE MAIN GATE AND ENTRANCE VIEW FROM BEHIND THE GOAL - THE MAIN STAND TAKEN FROM THE TRACK WHICH SKIRTS ALONG ONE END OF THE GROUND. THE COVERED STANDING AREA - AGAIN FROM BEHIND THE GOAL SIDE VIEW OF THE CLUBHOUSE FACILITIES AND MAIN STAND THE COVERED TERRACE - WHICH STRADDLES THE HALF WAY LINE VIEW OF THE MAIN STAND AND DUGOUTS FROM THE TERRACE TERRACE VIEW OF FAR GOAL AREA VIEW FROM THE TERRACE OF THE SMALL CAR PARKING AREA BEHIND THE GOAL CLUB SPONSORS......THIS MADE ME CHUCKLE!! IT DEPENDS ON HOW YOU READ IT, BUT SURELY HORSHAM CAN ATTRACT BETTER SPONSORS THAN THIS!! ;D PS: I suppose I shouldn't be TOO critical on Horsham's sponsors - after all, MONEY IS MONEY!! At least they have a club sponsor - unlike West Bromwich Albion in the Premiership. What's THAT all about??

I think Victor Gladwish is the sponsor of the TOILET Kev, not the whole club. Whenever I see the name Horsham YMCA I imagine a small crowd of "village people" stood on the touchline in appropriate clothing and suitably choreographed! ;D

As always, great pics Kev.
I've not been to Goring's Mead but i have seen a match there. As you probably know this ground and Horsham's Atspeed Stadium were next to each other. When i attended the last ever game at Atspeed last year, from my seat in the grandstand i could see YMCA's ground.. not all of it but the stand and some players. I checked as both woyuld never behome at the same time so it was a reserve game no doubt. Ashame they didnt have the short cut to each ground any more.
Talking of horsham. as they are sharing at Worthing for a few years i plan to go there this season if anyone wants to join me.

I attempted to access the Atspeed recently - only to be met by a huge Persimmons Homes screen at the end of the lane. I could just about see through a small gap around the padlock arrangement, but alas not sufficient to get any decent pics. I did actually manage a trip to Horsham back in '96, when Romford FC were winning the Ryman League 2 title - but it would have been good to take one last scout around. I don't know about you, but disused grounds with 3 foot high weeds all over the pitch and terraces always seems to conjure up almost "ghostly" images and sounds in the mind - sometimes, you can almost hear the matchday noise in the breeze! As for Worthing FC (Woodside Road), - courtesy of Romford FC I've been there, done it, and got the t shirt!!

Gorings Mead, home to Horsham YMCA....................blimey YOU know how to show your missus a good time Kev! My missus loves to go racing and revels in the atmosphere of Sandown Park, Chester and Goodwood. But I never forget the day I took her to Bangor On Dee...................not a single stand nor cover and it was pissing it down all afternoon as we huddled under a giant umbrella on a grass bank. It was the first time I had heard her use the word "one handed self lover" - and I don't think it was aimed at the horse she had backed, nor the jockey! But that was nothing to what she came out with when surprise surprise we "just happened" to bump into Mr&Mrs Kipper - two hundred miles from our home? What a surprise!
