Our problem is our home form is no better than our away form and this game looks a very hard one to get even a point from, in saying that it is often the case that United get points against teams they might be expected to get nothing from and we can but hope this will be the case on Saturday.
If we were to suffer yet another home defeat then I’m sure the demands would grow that Paul Buckle should be sacked and based on recent points won, you would find it hard to argue against any such demands.
It’s a shame Rendell will still be missing for this game and I feel him playing upfront with Zebs will give us our best opportunities to score goals, maybe when he is fit again we will see results starting to come as make no mistake we are now showing only relegation form and we can’t just can’t keep hoping that Grimsby don’t start going on a good run.
We really need Carlisle back as he was our best player before his injury and I also think Bucks needs to play Nico again as the players brought in to play at left back are certainly no better and in my view offer less to the whole game that Nico does.
Thompson has been very poor in the last few homes games and should not get in the starting eleven so let’s hope Mansell has fully recovered as at least he will give everything he has got in there.
It will be a brave man who predicts a win for Torquay United, but we can’t keep on losing or just getting the odd point here and there and who knows we could be all feeling so much better at 5pm this Saturday

In February 1962 the Accrington Stanley chairman resigned citing debts including monies owed to the Inland Revenue. In March, after a defeat at Crewe, the other directors sent a letter of resignation to the Football League, despite no winding-up order coming from any of the creditors, which was accepted. A change of heart by the Accrington board was too late as the League considered the letter as final and the resignation stood. They were only the second club (after Wigan Borough in 1931) to resign mid-way through a league campaign. The club dropped into the Lancashire League but finally gave up the ghost in 1966 and disbanded. A ‘new’ Accrington Stanley rose from the ashes of the ‘old’ Stanley after a meeting at Bold’s Street Working Men’s Club in 1968. Attempts to play at the old Peel Park ground where unsuccessful and for many years the ground lay derelict, only recently being used as a pitch for the local school next door, with the old changing rooms still standing. After a run through the non-league pyramid, playing at their new Crown Ground, Accrington Stanley finally took their place in the Football League at the end of the 2005/6 season replacing Oxford United, the team which, coincidentally, had taken the original Stanley’s place back in 1962. Peel Park last SaturdayI'll do a full report later on my visit and put it in the Other Grounds room..

There is a very detailed history of Stanley here : hem.passagen.se/accringtonstanley/index.htmAccrington was our first ever trip up North back in 1910 and by coincidence was also our second ever trip up North twenty years later. It was to be another 76 years before our paths crossed again - a different club according to some but not in my book. This match was of course a memorable one for TUFC fans as it gave us our first sight of our saviour Chris Roberts ....

They should have been chucked out of the league for taking the p1ss with the ground! Everyone gets sentimental about them because of an advert on T.V with some Scouse kids taking the p1ss out of them, they just scraped through with their ground and only built it to the bare minimum, it`s aweful especially in the away end, most conference clubs put them to shame and that`s where they should be until they learn to respect the League and build something at least half descent, their ground is just 6 courses of blockwork all the way around, just imagine if they got promoted to League1 what the visiting fans would think! It`s a disgrace!

This game is more then winnable. Stanley are an example of why draws are no longer any good in bulk--- They have won 14 however have lost 14 as well (only Lincoin & Torquay have lost more ) with only 4 draws.. Problem is what kind of team will we play ? I have not commented on Tuesday night but if that team gets selected again we will get hammered . For me this is a real chance... However to have a chance the ball is going to have to stick up front for longer then 30 seconds. Stew

I think that the absence of Smith, Mansell, Carlisle and Rendell is a loss that may have impacted in part on the performance against Cheltenham. The good news is that Carlisle and Mansell are back and boy is that a timely boost for our midfield! Not sure about Smith but he is in the squad and if he returns then things are looking really up.

The news that Wayne-O is back is a real boost.
Hopefully the crowd can really get behind the whole team tomorrow for the whole of the game. Can't help but thinnk i'll be disappointed though and they'll be on their backs when the first pass goes amiss.

Wasn't thinking of just Wayne-o aussie - but you're right he still doesn't seem to have won everyone over. Despite consistently being one of our best players (IMHO).
The lad i feel sorry for is Ty, he'd be the first to admit he hasn't being playing his best football recently but the crowd are so quick to get on his back it makes him look scared to get the ball. Personally I don't think he is the answer to our midfield problems but whoever pulls that shirt on we need to be 100% behind.
Its real trenches stuff for the rest of this season and we need to pull together.

I think it does get him down at the time but he is a resilient guy and I think it would take more than them too really upset him!

Time for 110% effort not only from the players but us as well. We all have an important part to play tomorrow and with the run in. Tough one to call Accy always seem to get the better of us for some reason but we are due a win pretty or dire and ugly I dont really care. Your choice either abuse the manager and players when things start to go wrong for individuals or encourage for the 90 minutes I know what option will improve our chances of getting a result and its NOT the former.

I completely agree, therefore he shouldn't be playing. If he can't cope with the pressure he either needs to learn to or sit on the bench. It's harsh I know, but we can't take prisoners anymore. We need a team of fighters out there otherwise we're in BIG trouble. Saying that, I think Mansell will be back so we shouldn't have any issues. Him and Wroe should do the business... it's our wing pairing I'm concerned about. O'Kane looks like he's got plenty of fight in him. Perhaps him and Carlisle (if he's fit). Zebs and Barnes up front will give plenty of muscle then a ten minute hat-trick from Benners to finish the game (!!??!)

Anyone else flapping about the pitch? Chucking it down in Exeter right now, and has been most of the night.
