It was a well earned point last night especially with the weather in their favour in the second half but we battled hard and fully deserved our point.
One or two people have said zeb had a poorish game but then again he was up against the best player on the pitch. their right back stuck very close and gave very little room, was a good battle between them. i would have put zeb up front late on and jake thompson on to test the right back more.
In defence ellis didnt have a good game for me apart from his usual good heading and clearing. the others were ok without being fantastic, anyway poke was his usual self and looked assured bar a couple of times he came out for crosses.
Was surprised hargreaves played but he did ok and so did ty thompson when he came on. there was one break near the end where thompson had the ball and with him on the attack were carlisle, hargreaves and sills...not the quickest break of all time (more like watching dads army they were so slow!)
Carlisle was man of the match for me, continually helping his team mates out and kept the ball well as well as putting a great cross on to rendells head.
Four cracking goals too with poke well beaten with their two strikes and vales keeper not getting close either. could have been different if benyon had scored in the first couple of mins. we have a real problem with our forwards at the moment not scoring, thankfully the midfield is!
However wroe picked up his 5th booking so he will miss a game, a very picky yellow card as it was just a normal foul. the ref was like that a lot last night, lots of silly fouls he stopped for when he could have let it go..
An enjoyable night out, journey home was pretty horrendous though out of Stoke and down the motorways with high winds and rain pouring down, needed a couple of stops and got back about three!!
Well done to all the Gulls fans who managed to get there its about 220 miles to stoke and with us being near the bottom with only three wins all season having 130 there was a great effort.
