Anyone noticed that the only time we have these issues is when the crowd is swelled by day trippers, the normal Pop-side is usually very well behaved until the extra glory hunters and day trippers turn up, we don`t suffer this problem with a league fixture against a mediocre or lower level team outside of the festive period at all! Against Brighton you will always here " Does your boy friend know here? " because of the perception by most that Brighton is a Batty Village where up hill gardening is the norm! I think the Brighton fans might have heard that one before so it is not even clever let a lone funny, it could be worse Pimmy could have asked them if they`d ever seen a beach! Don`t tell me, he did didn`t he!

Thought the "Does your boyfriend..." chant came from the Brighton fans?

We have this problem every home game and its caused by the same mindless few, so lets be honest about it and not let those who are responsible, be able to hide behind any mis-truth that it is just the day trippers as you call them, who bring these songs into the ground. I thought I had heard all the rubbish I could this weekend already

I do believe I`m quite innocent your honour by the words previous to that " because of the perception by most that " ! I was merely pointing out a perception, as it may or may not be correct, by quite a lot of people! You trouble maker you, trying to drop me in it, I do a good enough job of dropping myself in it and don`t need any help thank you Phil! Good morning by the way Sir!

I thought I had heard all the rubbish I could this weekend already Our regulars in The Pop are usually o.k.ish from what I`ve heard and it always seems to get silly when it`s full, maybe it`s because where I stand and where you stand we hear different things as you stand close to the idiot brigade and I stand down the end, when there is a smaller crowd the more immature knob jockeys congregate around the half way line and we can`t really make out what they are saying but when we are nearly full up and they then have the bottle, due to shear numbers, they congregate around the away end of The Pop, I think they refer to them selves as `The Torquay Youth` or TNT, spineless wonders that only hunt in packs!

I think yesterday's game just shows how far we have come and what expectations there are now for the Club. I would expect few from the Gulls contingent at Plainmoor thought we would lose and many ( me included ) expected to win! A pretty poor game on a dodgy surface with the better side on the day winning. What it did show however, is how reliant we are on Nicky Wroe and how utterly ineffectual Benyon is against Football League Clubs! We got away with it against Hereford when Benyon was paired with Zebroski, which in effect stopped Zebs from playing in his best position. Perhaps now we are out the cup, we can stop toying with the forward line and play the first team. Also, quite clearly we need extra help in the middle of midfield. If CH's legs are now going, Ty is not yet the answer - especially at home. After the fantastic performance at Bournemouth it was definitely a little flat yesterday!! As i mentioned earlier I think expectations have now risen?? And that on the whole, is never a bad thing!

I thought we did ok defensively but squandered a lot of the possession that we had. Scott Rendell worked hard and won quite a few in the air. Unfortunately, Elliot does not anticipate and his movement is a bit of an afterthought.
Much has been said about Tyrone's performance of which I agree. However some of the balls that he tried to play into the feet of our strikers looked worse than they were because Brighton defenders reacted quicker. He knows what he wants to do but wants too much time to do it.
Dickinson and Cox gave Adam Smith a difficult afternoon. All part of the learning curve and may curb his tendency to try and do too much in dodgy areas.
I lament the demise of the terrace wag and it is true there is not much in the way of humour coming from the Popside. However I stand at the back about 10 - 15 yards from the halfway towards the Babbacombe End and thoroughly enjoy the company of the people that I stand with. The view is also a good one usually, once we have shuffled around to accommodate the more vertically challenged! We have also been known to join in the odd chant and and clap in unison. It might look like the Pollit Bureau on May Day but we do our best! If you all emigrate from the Pop it ain't going to get any better. I urge you to stay.
Not sure if I misheard this but did the Brighton fans, in retort to the entirely predictable and boring chants from the Popside, chant something like 'You'r too ugly to be gay'. I may be wrong but recall being mildly amused to their response to something they must hear time after time.
Back to the real business next week, supporting a team that I am now pretty confident will retain league status and be able to pay its players. Thats good enough for me this season.

I did'nt hear any Racist comments being made at the ground but some of the things being shouted at the Brighton Players were "close to the mark" to say the least. Some so called TUFC fans have a "dig" at our players (out loud for all to hear) also get's on my *its. Paul Buckle picks the team and makes the substitutions if required to do so, some people standing near me seem to think they have that "role". Anyway not a good game getting in was abit of a nightmare some fans paid in the Shop and got in that way so I don't think these people would have shown-up on the offical attendance 4023ish I think the crowd was more like 4250.Elliot looks a little lightweight against the bigger sides (I still think he can and will score goals in FL2 but thats it) Tyrone had a mare of a game and Scott looks like he has "lead in his boots" sometimes apart from that both teams were evenly matched apart from Nicky Forster who was a constant "pain in our sides" all game. Just a dull game not alot of passion just hit un hope stuff, oh well.......

A pretty poor game on a dodgy surface with the better side on the day winning. Cav I would agree most fans expectations have risen over the last month or so and I for one felt we would win yesterday. But then I always feel all games are there to be won and never go thinking it will just be the case we will lose the game. But while we have come on in recent matches, yesterday showed with out two key players in the side, we are still not any better than we were a few months ago, So its clear we still need a few more quality players and ones who can cover when key players are missing. I do worry when expectations start rising, fans then seem to expect far more and if things then start going backward slightly, start demanding sackings etc. Its nice to have hope, but it is so often harmful to start expecting too much, but as soon as the team does put some results together, expectations are always going to go up, only some lose any sense of reality and want more than can really be delivered.
