Its so good to be back in league two as we enter the FA cup in the first round proper and not have to play any qualifying games.
Its very unlikely we will ever win the FA cup, but a good run in it can really make a big difference to the clubs finances and its about time we got that big draw against some top premiership team.
But first things first and we need to beat Cheltenham who we have already knocked out of one cup competition this season. I see no reason why we should not be in the hat for the second round, but if that is to happen our players need to carry on from where they left off in the Northampton game.
Can Thomson play in an FA cup game for us? not sure myself but I expect Bucks will stick with the same team and formation that beat Northampton.
I hope we get a good gate and see another fine game of football and a good win can only help us when we play our next league match.

I see that Thomson has been cleared to play this game whilst Poke probably won't! Maybe indicative of their long term future at this club?

It does look like Scott Bevan will be in goal for this game, do some feel he is still injured? I have watched him closely in the warm ups and he moves freely and when he has been having a kick around, sure gets those long legs up really high. We will get the answer on Saturday for sure and I think he will be the only change we see from the starting line up that beat Northampton. I was asked in Yeovil today If I felt we were good for the win, the Yeovil fan had our game in his sweep stake, I told him yes, so I hope our result is not the one he needs to get a big pay out and I got it wrong.

Same team but with Bevan in goal sounds like a good shout to me, as well. We completely outclassed them at their place with neat passing football.
I must say, Stevens and Tyrone Thompson were immense that night, but I would expect them only to be on the bench.
Cheltenham are now on a run and in a League position far more befitting of their performance that night. Prior to our victory they were riding high. I expect lightening to strike twice on this one and reckon on a similar 3-1 victory.

I'm looking forward to the match tomorrow - although I think that given the financial demands upon both sides then there is a lot more riding on this game than there would have been a couple of seasons ago when both sides perhaps would be far more focused upon the league. I've got a bit of a soft-spot for Cheltenham after some great visits to their ground - I've always felt particularly welcomed there by their staff and their decent supporters - but it will be a keenly contested match tomorrow. Hopefully there will be a respectable crowd and that fellow season ticket holders will back the club.
In terms of the team - I'm sure it will be much a case of "as you were" from last week (other than Poke)- if everyone's fit. Maybe Marvin Williams will get a chance from the bench to kick-start his spell here instead of leaving when his contract expires - stranger things have happend.
I'm not doubting that a fully fit Bevan will be a great asset to the team - but has he thrown-off the injury that made him very slow at going down to shots earlier in the season? I know that Southampton have to give written permission for Poke to play, but if they get beaten at Bristol Rovers tonight then would they be able to provide that tomorrow (by fax, for example) or would it be too late?

Seeing as Saints won 3-2 we can forget it, anyway permission had to be in by 5pm tonight!

I half expected that might be the case - on both fronts!
Bevan it is then - given that they seem to have more options going forward than they have over the rest of the pitch with the likes of Josh Low (a target of Bucks last season), Barry Hayles, Justin Richards and Elvis Hammond to call upon he might have a busy return! I have no doubt that he will do the business tomorrow - although hopefully the rest of the team will minimise their chances to give him an easy path back to first team football.

Bevan it is then - I have no doubt that he will do the business tomorrow - . There was a suggestion he needed to have an operation? I don't buy this as if that was the case then it would have been already done by now, as it would have made sense to get it done when Poke first resigned on loan for us. It did say in the HE that Bevan was a bit sore after playing recently, so he still must have a slight problem.

I suppose there are many ways to sort-out an injury and it isn't always as easy as to decide straight away how to treat it- and it will sometimes depend upon what specialist you might see - a physio might often suggest a non-invasive therapy whereas a surgeon might start sharpening his scalpels at the first mention of the injury. My girlfriend's cousin recently had his loan-spell cut-short due to a knee injury - he originally was told that he needed an operation but has hopefully sorted it with physio - which was a relief for him in the latter years of his career.....
Hopefully the rest from first team action will allow him to get down to stop the sort of shots that he couldn't deal with against Bournemouth. He comes across as a really nice chap - an excellent choice for those on the TFF to sponsor.
Anyways - it's a glorious day as I look out across the Teign Estuary in the direction of Plainmoor, a bit of a breeze but should be good. As long as we have the same attitude as we have for the last month or so and then I reckon we will get that first £18k of prize money.

Dave it was me who said about the operation, Bevs told me personally that he needs an op to sort it out properly and quickly, why would he lie?

Dave - thanks for the offer - unfortunately I won't be getting to the ground until late today as I have a couple things I have to sort-out beforehand - I'd certainly really like to at the next event to meet the great posters and personalities of the site! Have a great time and enjoy the day.

Only got in at three twenty (Anthony's football commitments) so missed all the goal action and then found that following some computer issues this week my Gullsplayer Account is "innactive"...............although they have the money I'll have to try and solve it next week as today I can get a Beeb commentary but not for league games of course. Sounds like Bevan is STILL somewhat immobile........................this is ridiculous and can't be allowed to carry on this way!
