Yes Jon a very good read indeed, as we already knew, the club is the hands of fans who really care for the club. I would have liked the article to have contained some views on the current situation, regarding the results and falling gates and what they may be looking at to turn things around.
Even with the board we now have, success on the pitch can't be guaranteed and I do wonder, If they ask themselves just what they need to do more, as they certainly have put a lot of effort in trying to take the club forward.
I do not think even Roberts had gates as low as our last two home games, yet we have the board we once could only dream about, who now find fans are staying away.
If you back the board then surly you need to back the decisions they make, it is clear they are still backing Paul as the manager, meaning they still have faith in him to turn things around.
I do wonder how things would have been, If Bateson did not get what he wanted in the end, Merve was back in the chair and was Leroy really going to be the manager again? The club was never in danger of going out of business, yes Roberts run up debts, but Bateson had taken his £400.000 loan back the day Roberts walked in. Plus he had Saddler's money and still had his 51% of the club.
Well, we would not have seen all the big improvements that have taken place at the ground, we would not have had our youth team setup that we have now. We will never know, what would have happened on the pitch, we could be by now in the BPS South or even lower.
One thing we do know, Is that the board will always do what they believe is best for the club and would take any hard decisions needed, if they felt decisions had to be made.
