On a freezing cold afternoon, I bumped into 2 former Gulls at Southport, prior to Torquay's FA Trophy fixture......and a "father and son" pairing to boot!! Step forward CLIFF & CHRIS MYERS. For those of you "not in the know", here's a brief run down on the pair for you. CLIFF MYERS Born on 23/09/46 in Southwark, the former Charlton Athletic midfielder joined Malcolm Musgrove's Torquay side from Yeovil Town in 1973. Leaving for Salisbury in 1975, he made a total of 94 appearances, netting 12 goals in the process. Now living in Lindos, and runs a bar called "The Sunburnt Arms." CHRIS MYERS Born 01/04/69 in Yeovil, Chris - also a midfielder - made 135 appearances and scored 8 goals in his 3 spells at Plainmoor. Also played for Dundee United. Now living in the Southport area and is training to become a fireman.....although would still like to be involved in football management after a 5 year spell in charge at Dawlish Town. AT A CHILLY HAIG AVENUE, CLIFF AND CHRIS POSE FOR THE FORUM. 3 GENERATIONS OF MYERS! AS CHRIS HAD REQUESTED, I TOOK A PHOTO OF HIM WITH HIS DAD AND HIS SON. WHO KNOWS, PERHAPS CHRIS'S BOY WILL TURN OUT FOR THE GULLS IN THE FUTURE!! FOOTNOTE: Chris - you said you looked on the Torquay Forums from time to time. If you do manage to view this thread, I hope you like the pictures mate!!
