Harry Parfitt transferred back to Cardiff City "with other repercussions of which you all know".
You can see that Arthur Milner is now listed as Chairman, with George Gillin (Chairman in the other 1953/54 programmes Timbo has put up) no longer on the Board.
I understand that there was a huge falling out over whether we should charge Cardiff a fee for Parfitt. They had let us have him for nothing as part of the "special understanding" between the two clubs. Some felt we were honour-bound to give him back, some thought that honour was old-fashioned. This episode wrecked the special Torquay/Cardiff bond and saw Gillin walk out.
Can anyone fill in any more details? How did the fans get to know about these boardroom squabbles back in those days?
