Hmm...I walked past Staverton's ground last week and this looks pretty similar. I've also had need tonight - when helping with a publication - to look on Street View at the grounds of Carnetown, Llwynypia and Abercwmboi (it certainly isn't any of those!). I'll go for Harbertonford because I can't imagine a Brixham boy playing for any of those "northern" clubs such as Moretonhampstead (which was my puzzle of the other day), Teign Village or Ilsington.
(took a long time to post that hence cross-posting with Merse).

that's the one I went for a trial at Harbertonford when I was 16 having finished an 8 year stint with Brixham Grasshoppers. My Dad was a policeman, stationed at Totnes at the time and met a guy called Steve Jane. Steve was the Manager of Harbertonford and involved with the Devon FA. I did ok in the trial and played for 3 years for the reserves until joining the RAF. It was a cracking little club with loads of real characters like the Squires brothers and Trant brothers. Had a great time playing for them and went to some interesting venues!!

This should be an easier one. Took a look last week having not seen it up close before. Interesting how those lights have now been in place for many years whilst the club has regressed in recent times. I'm sure this ground has been featured on here before:

A place Carol spent so much time as a very young girl as her grandfather lived in Harbertonford and Carol would stay there at weekends and most school holidays.
Shes going to ask her mum to confirm it but she believes her granddad was the chairman of the Totnes football club and so was always to be found on matchdays watching Totnes games with him and not Harbertonford.
Her family know Steve Jane well and Carol says he still lives in the village and wonders if you played football with his two sons who played for Harbertonford.
I have also just learned that Carols dad played for Harbertonford ( never knew he ever played) so I will be having a good chat with him very soon and finding out if he has anything interesting he can remember that I can add to this thread.

I can't remember Steve's sons but he was quite old even when i played 28 years ago (was it really that long ago : Great little village side and I had many a drink in the Maltsters Arms

Kev, Buckfastleigh, it is! Must have been plenty of ambition there once upon-a-time. Complete with floodlights they were founder members of the Devon County League in 1992 and were the inaugural champions. Then, after ten seasons, they dropped back to the SDL before joining the new SW Peninsula League. That didn’t last long and Buckfastleigh soon dropped out with the league secretary saying he’ll never allow them anywhere near his league again. I saw them at Teignmouth shortly before the storm in the most thuggish game I’ve ever witnessed (so obviously hugely enjoyable!). I’m sure Torquay United have sent sides to Buckfastleigh over the years and, indeed, somebody was telling me yesterday that Leyton Orient once won there by (something like) 13-1 in a pre-season friendly.
Walking around Buckfastleigh last Wednesday evening I realised it’s one of those nearby towns about which I know very little; a mixture these days of the gentrified/arty and a slightly harder-edged, close-knit community derived from the place's history as a textile town on a fast-flowing river. Pubs, churches (Catholic, Anglican and Methodist within a few paces) and the splendid Jolly Rogers fish and chip cafe.

Of course, when I say Buckfastleigh, I actually meant BUCKFASTLEIGH RANGERS - but lets not split hairs!
