Looking at the last page of this programme it seems to suggest that we played Birmingham City at home in Floodlit friendlies two seasons in a row and lost 3-2 each time. Is that correct or an error in the programme as they do show the previous season scores for the league games? Seems a bit of a coincidence to have two successive 3-2 results.
Also when did Sir Stanley Matthews 'guest' for us in a Floodlit friendly? I think it was against Blackburn Rovers and I thought it was 1955 but there is no mention of the game in this 1955 programme.
Can't be bothered with the complexities of Google as there are loads on here who can rattle out the answers off the top of their heads!

We did indeed lose floodlit friendlies at home to Birmingham 2-3 two years running. Collins (pen) and Fewings scored for us infront of a crowd of 7,000 on 22/11/54. Collins scored twice infront of a crowd of 4,178 on 17/10/55. The Blackburn game was on 14/2/55 infront of a crowd of 9,000. We lost 1-4 with Collins scoring.

If we needed a reminder of how footballers were ordinary working men back in the 50s, we read here that the great Don Mills was a proud member of Torquay Artisan Golf Club.
Is that still going today? I know it was back in the 80s - and I've a feeling one of the Bastows was heavily involved.
They had their own shed / hut as opposed to the plush clubhouse. They paid a fraction of the full Golf Club fees, but I think had restricted tee times and were only allowed in the real clubhouse once a year when they played a match against the Golf Club itself. There was a long waiting list.
Can you imagine the likes of John Terry and Ashley Cole slumming it like that?
