I don't think anyone has mentioned the passing of George Northcott reported in yesterday's Herald.

The article mentions that he was "one of the last surviving members of Torquay United's first ever promotion winning team".

There is a team picture in the paper edition which shows George standing next to Eddie Marsh who also passed way recently.

What do all these clubs have in common?

Newport County, Aldershot, Chester, Halifax, Hereford, Darlington, Maidstone, Wimbledon

Noticed this from afar, Jon. The Herald Express article correctly points to George Northcott's four seasons as a regular during which he made the bulk of his appearances. Compared to a number of other players of that era, that appears to be a relatively brief first-team career. Compared to other times in our history, it's a pretty significant contribution and one made as part of an ever-improving team.
