Some of you on here must have goodand/or bad memories about this ground?

The ground has been demolished shortly after my visit. i'm glad I saw this one. I missed out on a few good ones like The Dell, Ayresome Park, Roker Park and the Baseball Ground...

The final match and later use
Wimbledon's final first team match at Plough Lane, on May 4, 1991, was made more painful for the 10,002 spectators when it resulted in a depressing 3-0 defeat to south London rivals and soon-to-be landlords Crystal Palace F.C..

It remained in use during the 1991-92 and 1992-93 seasons for the reserve teams of both Wimbledon and Crystal Palace, but then fell into total disuse and was finally demolished in 2001.

A new development of private apartments now stands on the site.

Unfortunately there will never be another football kicked on that site again...........................unless it is in the living room of one of the hundreds of high end market flats still under construction there.

Wasn't Ron Noades the main beneficiary of all that development?

I often pass the sight on the corners of Durnsford Road and Plough Lane SW18................it really is the arse end of Wimbledon, and the development is the beginning of a re-generation of the area.

The football ground was always a tip anyway, just as the greyhound stadium is next door. Not a venue to be over sympathetic over in my opinion and now AFC Wimbledon STILL don't play in the Borough of Merton - Kingsmeadow is in Kingston on Thames in the Borough of Kingston & Richmond!

Or am I correct that they did buy Kingsmeadow stadium?
