The other question is where were the pictures taken? could the last one be Plainmoor? and if it is then it might have been a cup final and that might help to get the names of the players.

I think there was a brother called Stuart but I think that's Chris. Terry Hughes (son of manager Danny Hughes) to the right of Edgcumbe in front row, far right front row is Roger Madge, a very talented player.

Milber and Dynamoes is at Newton Rec before one of the Junior Div Finals....................the league used to read, Premier, Senior 1, Senior 2, senior 3, Junior 4, Junior 5. The Sarries one is at Plainmoor prior to a Sunday League Cup Final

Does anyone know where these 3 teams played home games that season? Milber United played at Osborne Park, when they went out of existence Newton 66 moved over from Bakers Park which is where Newton Saracens played and Dynamoes played at Centrax Sports Ground. Milber were essentialy a side formed of Newton Grammar Schools boys whilst Dynamoes were started up by the legendary Danny Hughes to provide recreation for the boys of Buckland Estate. My brother played for them whilst Stefano and I played for Newtor United who used Sandringham Park ~ now smaller in size but situated on the left where the Newton By Pass runs in to Penn Inn Roundabout...................we used to attract some remarkably big and raucous crowds to our Sunday youth league matches and the pitch was a nightmare for visitors having a somewhat "Accrington Stanleyesque" reputation! I remember one somewhat physical and bad tempered game there with Shaldon Villa (including Gulls legend Ian Twitchin)where I "played out" the last ten minutes of a one nil lead by constantly tapping the ball out of play and into the little river that ran down one touchline about six foot below a bank. Adie Boult of Villa told me that if I did it one more time he was going to break my teeth to which of course I took no notice and now proudly possess two false ones at the front and after forty years I can proudly say to Adie "I've still got 'em matey!" Sarries were the first dedicated Sunday football team in NA when the Torbay Combination started up and were based at the Saracens' Head pub in King Street. Someone once said to me that in order to play for Sarries you had to play and understand Euchre and know the racing form inside out. Whilst I followed racing, I'm useless at any card game and never understood Euchre in any case, still don't and never will!

Yes it was Chris who was a year or two older than me and Stuart was his younger brother who was a bit young than me. I did a post sometime ago (far too deep for Aussie) about memory and asked the question was our whole life all recorded in our memory. If so would it just be the case of getting a trigger that would open up the path to some event or other no matter how long ago it happened. www.torquayfansforum.com/index.cgi?board=pop&action=display&thread=3324I firmly believe everything that has ever happened is all in there somewhere and tonight has only confirmed that for me. I must have been about eleven years old and I got to hear that the caretaker of Milber Primary school, Mr Williams, was selling on his son’s behalf, two electric guitars and an amplifier. His son at a young age had moved abroad to live and told his dad to sell the stuff and keep the money to help pay some bills. One guitar was a red Strat copy and a good one at that and the other was a semi-acoustic one in white and instead of a normal sound hole, had to F shape ones. I already had a buyer for that one, my cousin Chris Murch and as Mr Williams also gave me the guitars and amp, I came out making a profit on the deal and therefore got my guitar and amp for free. Not really suitable to play at home and so I did odd jobs for the Catholic church near the war memorial in return for using the church hall behind the church to practice. Just before I was about to leave school and join the navy only a few days after my fifteen birthday the amp went wrong and I took it across the road to a shop called Pollards to get it fixed. Only I was soon up at Shotley Gate near Ipswich at HMS Ganges and my not so nice mother did not go and picked it up for me and they then went and sold it to cover the repair. When I came home on my first leave I went and saw Stuart as he was a good friend, one thing led to another and he asked me if his brother could lend some of my music books and especially my complete Beatles Music book. So I went home and got them and despite asking for them back many times I never did get them back. All that remembered because a picture was put on the forum tonight, bloody amazing if you ask me.

Another win for Buckland Athletic on Saturday meaning they’re seven points clear at the top of the SWPL premier. Bodmin and Falmouth are level behind them, each with a game in hand (and both are going well). Two of Buckland’s final three games? Away to Falmouth on 1 May; home to Falmouth on 5 May.
I’ve not seen anything about the club seeking promotion to the Western Premier – should they do well enough to apply this season – but they’ve appointed Steve Massey (ex-Stockport, Bournemouth, Northampton, etc) as manager for next season. Meanwhile I read in last week’s Falmouth Packet that Bruce Rioch has moved to Cornwall and is doing some coaching at Falmouth Town.
As for Buckland, I enjoyed last Tuesday’s 5-2 win over Elburton. Home again this Tuesday v Holsworthy (although I might opt for the game at Dawlish that evening).
And, on the subject, of local football – why are Hookhills United from Paignton doing so well this season? Division 3; Herald Cup semi-finalists with a victory over Upton Athletic in the process. Similarly Denbury Athletic (Division 4) are in the other Herald semi after defeating Brixham United on the way. I hope this is all on merit - and a tribute to up-and-coming clubs - as opposed to larger clubs making the fashionable decsion to "prioritise" when it comes to cup competitions. Both semis are on Good Friday, I believe, with the final at the end of the season.

Ive noticed that the Herald Cup semis are on Good Friday and that the final is later on. Good Friday has always been the day of the final but maybe they have decided to give the final a chance of a bigger crowd? With all these groundhoppers around and fixtures being moved so that they can see three in a day maybe they have moved the final for a better viewing day. Certainly on Good Friday morning their is a choice of Bovey v Buckland and Liverton v Newton Spurs. Didnt see when and where the Herald final is though? ?
