Another day, another match. This time off to a famous old ground in South West London which was the scene of one of the more memorable FA Cup wins when Sutton United knocked out Coventry City in 1989. Which is incidently the last time a non league club knocked out a team from the top flight in the FA Cup. I hope Crawley don't change this record! Last night's game was an Isthmian Premier League match with AFC Hornchurch and a good 2nd half performance (after a truly dire 1st half) was rewarded with a 3-0 win that saw Sutton go 8 points clear at the top of the table. The attendance was 481 with about 20 from Hornchurch including this teddy bear waving nutter in a wheelchair decorated with red and white tinsel! I have to say that Borough Sports Ground or Gander Green Lane is one of the more atmospheric grounds I've been to in a while, complete with the dog track running around the perimeter of a truly massive pitch. I'm pretty sure I'm never ever gonna hear anyone sing "Are you Ebbsfleet in disguise" again. Some photos.

Very envious of the opportunities to "ground hop" around the South East without having to plummet down the pyramid as you do in these parts.
Have clocked up a few in the SE in recent years watching Torquay, of course, and the odd game following the mighty Taunton has taken me to Hanwell, Uxbridge, Egham, Bracknell and Windsor. Also fortunate to have been given a lift up to Imber Court two or three years ago. If I had such a thing as a "hit list" it would include Hampton & Richmond, Sutton, Carshalton, Tooting and Mitcham, Dulwich Hamlet, Welling, etc. Done Bromley years and years ago.
Over the years, each time I've made a job application, I've probably spent more time thinking about the possible football rather than the requirements of the bloody job (to my recurring detriment). I'm currently looking at a post in the Midlands at the moment....Nuneaton, Rugby Town, the new Hinckley, the new Leamington, Hednesford, not been to the new Coventry either.....
