Can anyone tell me how I can get a copy of Sammy Collin's Benefit programme? He was a relation and I am writing up the family history. A copy of the programme would be invaluable. Thank you, Sheila.

Hello Shelia, Sammy Collins wife Pat is living in Bristol and would be pleased to hear from you if you are looking into the family history. If you post a reply with your pm we will put you in touch. m Swann

In the week of Bert Trautmann's death it's worth drawing attention to the presence of another ex-PoW in the Bristol City side for Sammy Collins' benefit match: Alec Eisenträger who played for the club between 1949 and 1958.
1953 seems rather early for Sammy to have a benefit game. But, to be entitled to a benefit game after five years, must have been a feature of the game in those days. As it happens, it proved to be around the mid point of Collins' time at Plainmoor. There was a lot still to come from the man.
