There has been a lot of good posts this weeks on a variety of topics and quite a wide range of members received at least one vote. One of the strengths of this site is the match reports that are posted which together give a great perspective on the match as seen from all parts of the ground.
The winner this week, not only came up with a great report on a great match but managed to get it typed first so warmest congratulations to harboursidegull on being the new Poster of the Week!
When the players came out and lined up the Stevenage boys looked by far a bigger unit and two of their back four wouldn't have looked out of place in a St Helen's kit real big buggers.
Pringle came straight into the team and although he seemed a little lost in the first half ... in the second 45 he was very much improved.
A patchy first twenty minutes passed and the only highlight being the Stevenage fans led by a great drummer who was playing it on the floor.
A few minutes later Bucks was trying to communicate some tactical changes to Billy Kee and Billy was gesturing back his response of what looked like "What... What"..... next thing you know Bucks has his arms round Danny Stevens and having a chat.... Next thing is... on about 29 minutes Billy's off and Dannys on ... Billy looked distraught and was clearly un-injured as he was not followed down the touchline by Damian Davey.
Nothing quite came off for United for the remainder of first half, and I went for my soup and a warm up in the Gulls Nest
The second half was barely a minute gone and Pringle suddenly had the ball about five yard outside of the box and he took one hell of swipe at the ball and produced a cracker of a shot which had the keeper beaten but smashed against the bar Ooooh !!! the bar was probably still shaking when we manged to regain the ball from the rebound and Danny got hold of it took it on a little and smacked it from just to the left on the edge of the box BANG its in... top corner beating the flailing arms of the keeper and Plainmoor goes mad !! Fantastic Goal.
The second half wore on and United looked re galvanised and they raised the level visibly Stanley O'kane Manse Robinson Stevens Zebs and Pringle much improved really battling for it and also good to see Nico much more involved than he was on Tuesday nite.....
Zebs was brought down in the box after a great move down the right, Now he seemed determined to take the penalty and was not giving in to Jake to let him take it ..and that didn't bode well and sure enough Zebs hit the pen right off the crossbar ( at half time that would have won him £350 notes )
But fair enough to the lads they weren't about to let that get their heads down and they continued attacking with some lovely football and some great passing all over the park the second goal came from a move down the left I think it was Danny who drilled the ball across the stevenage goal and Jake was their to bang it in from close range Get In 2-0 to The Gulls
The lads saw out the remainder of the game with some more good moves and passing Stevenage had a few efforts but in all fairness Potts didnt have a great deal to do but when he was called into action he did his job well.
All in all a great day at Plainmoor .... My only complaint .... It was bleddy Freezing again !!!

Well well talk about a game of two halves ....but a great deserved victory in the end and a truly stunning second half display.
