Can anyone please tell me how I can get hold of a program for this match. It was a friends first away match and he would dearly love to buy one.

I wondered if you have a Torquay away sheet program 1963/4 a friendly against Bristol City where Torquay won 2-4 if I remember rightly Earnie Pymm and the Northcott brothers played against Bristol City Reserves on a Saturday. I played in goal for City but never seen the program. Thanks

Dear Chris, I have no record of a friendly at Bristol City in the 63/4 season but Torquay played at home on 15th August 1964 in a pre-season friendly against Bristol City who had a Mike Gibson in goal. Don't know the score. Hope this helps. Sam

Sam is right that Torquay and City played a friendly at Plainmoor 15/8/64. City won 3-1. Panter for Torquay. Clark, Bush and Peters for City. Crowd 2,610. On the same day the two clubs' reserve teams faced each other at Ashton Gate. Torquay won 4-2 with goals from professional Micky Somers, apprentice Barry Lewis and two from our Spanish waiter Fernando Nunez. No clues in the Herald at all about the City lineup - even the goalscorers. Mike Gibson was City's regular first team keeper and would be for a few years to come. United fans have reason to be grateful to him as his consistency would force a young Mike Mahoney to look elsewhere for first team football. City's reserve keeper Ron Nicholls doubled up as Gloucestershire's wicketkeeper, so he may well have been absent on cricketing duties. Tommy Northcott did indeed lead the line for United reserves. Ernie Pym came on as sub for the first team at Plainmoor. George Northcott had left the club a couple of years earlier. HE 14/06/64 HE 17/08/64

I’m intrigued by Fernando Nunez; I had no idea we had a Spanish player that long ago. I guess he never featured for the first team but two goals against Bristol City (even if their reserves) is not to be sniffed at.
So was he an actual waiter then?

The Herald Express made a big fuss when he arrived about the Spanish triallist. I remember seeing him in an internal club game. I think it was billed as Whites v Blues. Quite a large crowd. I think it finished 3-2 and Nunez scored from a penalty. The main thing I remember is Robin Stubbs on the floor in the penalty area at the Babbacombe End with his shoulder well out of shape, and Harry Topping running on and pushing it back into place. It was all nearly 60 years ago mind and is from memory so I am sure Jon can firm up the details. ⚽️

Sorry but I got my 1960s stereotypes a bit mixed up. All Spaniards over 18 were waiters, those 18 and under were sons of waiters. He's from Droitwich doesn't quite have the same ring as he's from Barcelona. I did get it right when we discussed it here: torquayfansforum.co.uk/thread/12815/barrow-07-10-64
