On Sunday we decided to go for a stroll by the River Rhondda after lunch with the inlaws in Maerdy.
Maerdy is where the last pit in the Rhondda was. At one point there were over 60 pits between the Rhondda Fawr (Big Rhondda) and Rhondda Fach (Little Rhondda)
It was a pleasant walk but as you can see from the pictures, the local scrotes like steeling cars and dumping them in the river
This route runs along the river and is the old railway track to Maerdy. The last picture shows James close to the old railway station. My wife tried to explain to the twins that the passenger trains stopped before she was born thanks to Dr Beeching but they did not understand.
the line continued to move coal but that is long since gone now
