There is hoping to be a good crowd at Ladysmead for the final of the St Lukes Bowl which this year for the first time in its history is going to be represented by a CSWPL team.
Back-to-Back CSWPL Champions, Buckland Athletic take on Tiverton Town FC and their home ground (Ladysmead).
The kick off time is 7.45 TONIGHT! There is also quite a large contingent from Buckland expected tonight! ;D
The winning team of the match tonight can theoretically call themselves the 'Best Team In Devon!'

Well what a night.
Buckland supporters who were at Ladysmead last night are waking up this morning wondering what they witnessed last night.
Every Buckland player and supporter who was there will be proud to say, i was there the night Buckland won the St Lukes bowl, from the very first minute the players never stopped running and chasing every ball.
Tiverton put early pressure on the buckland defence and scored in the 2nd minute to take the lead, but Buckland gradually came into the game more and more.
A free kick was awarded right on the edge of the box in the middle of the goal, as the keeper, was lining up his wall Danny Gaze must have asked the referee if he could take it quick, the referee must have said ok and Gaze fired a low shot just inside the keepers right hand post to take the teams in level at the break.
With around 150 Buckland fans a welcomed pint was in order. with expectations high, Tiverton were a team that could be beaten, and they did not look the 3 divisions higher in league status.
Buckland were out early for the second half and they could not wait to get at their openents again. with a cross from the right Antony Lynch was at the near post and he managed to get a touch on the cross and steer the balll into the net 2-1 This sent the Bucks faithful into raptures many thinking maybe this was going to be their night.
Tiverton had to push forward and spaces opened up at the back a glaring miss kick by a Buckland -player from within the 6 yard box when it looked easier to score.
Tiverton got their second when a player scored at the far post to make it 2-2.
The referee brought an end to the second half and penalties would decide this cup final. Willo won the toss and went to the end where the noisey Buckland fans were situated.
Tiverton took the first kick and Neil Montadon saved it with his leg, up stepped our regular penalty taker Danny Gaze but his shot hit the underside of the bar and the ball came out onto the playing surface. Tiverton scored their second. Danny Lewis scored 1-1 Tiverton scored 2-1 Matt Beer levelled 2-2. Tiverton missed. Up next former Tiverton player Mike Booth also missed to keep the tie level 2-2. Kevin Hill the former Torquay player stepped up but he put his shot wide of the goal. Antony Lynch knew he could win it if he scored the crowd fell quiet, up he stepped and fired the ball home 2-3. within seconds Buckland players had jumped ontop of the gaffer Also the supportes were celebrating in the stands wondering if this was real.
Buckland were presented with the bowl a lap of honour followed with Tom Kelly coming over to me and presenting his medal to me . Thank you TK.
The celebrations went long into the night
Mom ALL THE TEAM
Attendance 300-400 Fantastic vocal support from the blue army well done to every body.

A great achievement by Buckland to win the St Luke's. What's this? Lynchy scoring the winning penalty! As Bucklandgull says, the first SWPL (step 6) side to win the competition which features clubs from their level upwards (but not below). I was only sorry to have missed it due to commitments elsewhere.
I'm gathering from various sources that Buckland haven't applied for promotion. From the outside that strikes me as a shame, although I guess there are reasons for not doing so (short-term or long-term?). I only hope the Bucks don't get mugged in the season when (and if) they plan to step up.
I can see it being a tricky one. The Western League Premier Division is a step up - and a suitable test for a team of Buckland's ability - but, since its' bigger clubs have progressed up the pyramid, it lacks the appeal of the past. Indeed, looking at the league table, I see the top four are currently Larkhall, Bitton, Bishop Sutton and Ilfracombe. By joining the Western League, Buckland's costs may increase but not the revenue. I suppose the issue is whether having a decent Western League team - as opposed to an outstanding Peninsula side - is really worth it.
That may suggest prudence or muted ambition at Buckland. Or, possibly, the very opposite. Maybe the Western League is worth it mainly as a means of fairly quickly getting to the Southern League?
