I see that this is a tense affair with neither Wimbledon or Luton able to break the deadlock. Looks like it is going to be tight and could go all the way...

Well, the wombles won through, 4-3 on penalties, so couldn't be tighter! Former Gulls Mohammad and Lawless both failed to score from the penalty spot! |

That is one hell of a way to settle a match that probably has more impact on the outcomes of the future for both clubs as Man United winning the next 5 league titles.
I think the romantics would certainly like to have seen AFC win it. It is an incredible rise through the divisions and I agree with Manager Terry Brown's comments about "supporter power" having been incredible and I'm sure that I can recall them starting the club and talking about "open trials" for new players.
I also think a lot of League 2 supporters who had encountered Luton and the nasty element of their support were also glad to see them stay out of the League - particulalry after the shocking scenes from their Play-Off semi last season at. I would certainly would rather be visiting Kingsfield than Kenilworth (but would also rather be heading to watch us at Charlton and Sheffield United next season!)! It is an incredible "League 2 South" next season - Plymouth, Rovers, Swindon, C****y, Cheltenham, Gillingham, Barnet, Daggenham, Hereford, Aldershot, Oxford, Southend - hopefully we can add Stevenage to the list!

I really would like to see them drop the AFC now and reclaim their proper name. I'd also like to see the Frankenstein's monster of a "football club" in Milton Keynes drop the Dons from their name. Let's not pretend that Milton Keynes has anything whatsoever to do with Wimbledon other than stealing their place in the league. Luton will return to the league sooner or later - it won't do them any harm having to wait a little longer. If they miss out again next season, it means that Plymouth will NOT be the biggest club in the Conference in 2012/13!  |
