FL2: Lincoln City v Torquay 14th Aug 2010

Fantastic result for us today, another clean sheet, extending the record, 3 more points and top of the table. What more can you ask for.

We have also beaten 2 teams that some people believed were among the favourites to go up.

Its only 2 games but it's a great platform to build on. The players confidence will remain high and hopefully that winning mentality will continue.

Pre season I felt that 7 points from 9 would be an excellent start, now I'm starting to feel that 9 from 9 is a real possibility. Lets keep this winning habit going for as long as possible.

Looks like I'm first back from the game then, so a brief match report.

First off I had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon, it was good to see the usual crowd after the summer break and the terrace humour was flowing particularly well. Not even the juvenile 'banter' from the half human, half jacket potato crowd could put my out of my good mood. (By the way Single bye bye w**kers, w**kers bye bye to opposing fans leaving early is not big or clever and makes you look like the thick inbred prick that you are.) A special mention for the young lady singing by herself sat in front of me today, it really was like you were singing just for me.

First half saw 3 of the worst headers you will ever see by Lincoln, including one from our old favourite Carayol. The Drewe Broughton miss from 4 yards needs to be seen to be believed, it almost went for a throw in. We should really have been behind and were defending pretty averagely. Then Zebs wins a free kick on the right, Nico ambles over from left back and puts in the best cross you will see all season and Benyon can't miss. One nil against the run of play. We play out the rest of the half well on top, Lincoln look a bit shell-shocked.

Second half Chris Sutton makes the unusual decision to take off Carayol and replace him with no-one This was the Muzzy we know and love, hiding from the ball, miscontrolling it, ducking out of challenges - won't have done us any favours as regards the tribunal. We barely break sweat Lincoln are a spent force and Lee Mansell sits in front of the back four to give a bit of extra protection vs. Broughton who did a reasonable job in holding the ball up in the first half. Then Eunan O'Kane comes on for Billy Kee and he looks like a serious player. Beautifully disguised reverse ball in to Benyon out wide to Zebs, heavy first touch but picks out Benyon at the far post and it's 2-0. Game over. Lincoln send on Delroy Facey who obviously eats at the same restaurants as Akinfenwa but it doesn't make much difference and Torquay run down the clock effectively and look the side more likely to add more goals.

Positives for me;

A fit Scott Bevan - had no real saves to make but his communication and movement were superb - best game I've seen him have for us.
Nico - that left foot is a thing of genius
Zebs - my man of the match, helped Robbo keep Carayol quiet by offering a fantastic threat going forward.
Benyon - Good headers for a couple of goals, but is prone to make the wrong decision - shoots when an obvious pass is on and vice versa.

Nobody had a bad game, I'm quite impressed.

i always take the magic 50 point mark as the holy grail,2 played 44 points to go,after that we go for it

Sorry - obviously hit the wrong button mid-post! Iwas going on to say I thought we often played well last season without getting a result; it would be good to think either we are getting better luck this season or that we are learning not to lose. Be interested to hear from those 300? of you able to get there.

It`s nine! Last seven of last season plus two this season, it`s ten games unbeaten but we did concede one goal off Bevans leg prior to the nine games without conceding. I think!

Anyone know when we last went 10 games unbeaten? I don't remember that sort of run in the last few seasons.
