Nicholson scores! 3-0. Is that our first penalty shoot out win since Blackpool? I have a feeling we beat Harrogate on pens in the FA cup a few years ago. Im sure Barton / Jon or budleigh will be able to confirm this. Another goood result to keep the momentum going. Yes, we did beat Harrogate on pens.

Yeah we did beat Harrogate in a shootout - and if I remember rightly, Andy Marriott scored the winning pen!

Well, at least Southend had to play tonight as well (fortunately they weren't one of the teams given a bye) ... they won on pens too.

We`re unbelievable! and have been since 5 April at Northampton.
I can`t recall in all my years of following the Gulls ever having experienced such a long period of excitement, pleasure and hope. Everything about the club sounds right at the moment. We have a club to be proud of.
We must enjoy it while it lasts and hope that we may actually achieve some form of success. For I feel this is probably our best chance for many a year to do so. But if we just miss out, I`m sure we`ll still look back and feel it was a memorable season none the less.
Getting a bit of a habit but well done to everyone connected with the Gulls.

Hopefully we will get the fans onboard, now is the time to get behind the team and enjoy this epic run of results.

Just before the start of the game I finally had chance to read the back page of the Herald Express and after reading what Paul Buckle had to say I fully agreed with every word.
TORQUAY UNITED'S 'underdog' status is serving the club well in the Gulls' record-breaking start to the season, says manager Paul Buckle.
And it will be the same story when United take on old South Coast rivals AFC Bournemouth in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy at Dean Court tonight (7.45pm).
"Nothing is expected of us this season, while there are big expectations of quite a few clubs in League Two," said Buckle in the wake of 100 per cent United's 2-1 win at Port Vale at the weekend.
"People won't be expecting us to win at Bournemouth either. "We're away from home again — this is the second of three away games on the trot.
"And I think Bournemouth will be expecting to beat Torquay. "But that's fine by us.
"Bournemouth are a very good side, from a league above us now. "We have to be resilient again, expecting that the opposition will have spells on top, but then attack them in the way that we have gone at teams away from home this season."
What a great result tonight and what is so pleasing is to see our fans are fully enjoying every single second of every single day while we are on this wonderful run of results. We do have to remember we are going to lose one day and its then we need to think back to nights like tonight and know we are going to have many more of them this season of that I’m certain.
You would think every team is now fearing playing us and trying to work out how they might stand a chance of beating us. Footballs a funny old game, not so long ago bucks could do nothing right as far as some fans were concerned, now they will be calling him King Paul, well he would deserve that after some of the abuse he had to put up when some fans lost faith in him at a time they really needed to show their support even more.

the idea that we have been lucky so far is wearing a bit thin now,we have had very little credit given our way,we have become a tough nut to crack. The run we have been on has happened because of our organisational skills, and determination, away from home we are deadly on the break, whilst at home it is almost non-stop attack.Even when the kitchen sink is chucked at us we dont wilt,it may or may not last, who knows, but at present it is very enjoyable.Paul Buckle has grown as a manager,if it continues we all know we will lose him,but the way the team now responds for him,at the very least he deserves that. With the transfer window now shut,we can concentrate on doing much of the same.

I live local to Bmouth so back from the game and a couple of thoughts. I haven't had the chance to get down to Torquay this season yet, so this was my first game of the season. Generally, didn't think it was a great performance. I thought we didn't keep or use the ball well, the amount of times we found the Bmouth players was so frustrating. There was a massive gap between Benyon and the rest of the side, and on the occasions Eunan got to Elliot they weren't on the same wavelength at all. Zebs was busy, Danny non-existent, Nicky and Mans in the middle battled well but the first half was scrappy. Second half we didn't create enough and Bmouth started to play much better and create some good chances. The fact probably is if they didn't have a 16 yr old up front alongside a winger then they would have scored - those two didn't have the cutting edge and more experienced strikers would probably have made the difference. I don't want to sound too negative as we did defend well, well organised 'most' of the time but we didn't deserve to progress to the next round - but then after what happened at their place last Christmas I don't care about that ;D I guess I was just hoping for a more assured performance after looking from the outside at the first four league games, maybe I'm being too harsh - at least we can take penalties

Hi aspire welcome to the TFF, you can only call it as you see it and give your honest views, maybe its just our time for a change and we are going to win games like this we may not have fully deserved to. We have lost games in the past we should have won and one very recently was the Reading game.
