Its inevitable that a club like ours takes a gamble on players that may or or may not be successful. One of the most successful "gambles" was Jason Fowler who served us well and was a real talent to behold at this level but couldnt stay fit to save his life.
It was just the way he was made and lets remember the bottom line is that these are just human beings, like you and me and not machines who can switch on and switch off at the drop of a hat. Every one is made differently some are naturally fit and atheletic others have to work hard at it the ones who have the lot usually make it to the highest level if they have the natural abilty and determination. So many factors make a top player.
What is apparent to me is how we are missing a big strong target man the likes of Scott Rendell who started slowly but blossomed into a valuable asset last season. I really believe this is the missing link at the moment and whatever others may think Zebs is not a target man(his best work has always been as a wide man) and never will be. Gritts sad to say is well past his best, thankfully he is only on loan so I would imagine that he will be off back to Chesterfield when his terms up. Kee is still a young lad with much to learn and his time will come just as it has for others at the club who have been patient, though I dont regard him as a target man hes just not big or physical enough. Both he and Benyon and even Okane need that sort of player, a real old fashioned CF to feed off.
Yes for me we will continue to struggle scoring and winning games if the ball keeps coming back to quicklcy as it was last saturday.
