So after our excellent start to the campaign back in August, we finally get the chance to do the "double," over one of the "bigger" sides in the division. The 1st February was a turning point for both teams but whereas we have since gone onward and upwards with 25 points from 13 games, Northampton have stagnated with 7 points from 11 games. (As an aside, Wycombe have only accumulated 12 points from 11 and were 16 points ahead of us at this point. ) Although Northampton beat Crewe 6-2 on this date, to go both a point and a place above us in 13th, they have not won since and although have not lost by more than a single goal suggesting that they are hard to beat, they are probably still two wins away from not having to worry about relegation. Poor form, lack of confidence and possibly a restive crowd may mean a scrappy game, as evidenced by five yellow cards against Bradford and hopefully we won't be drawn into this. Northampton haven't got a Le Fondre or Josh Low banging them in although did sign Shaun Harrad from Burton in the January window. Strikers McKenzie and McKay have been out injured. Gilligan was on the bench at Bradford but has started since returning back to his club. The Gulls will be without Murray, on international duty but I'm not sure if he would have started anyway! Pringle has returned to Derby and Tomlin may be going back to Dagenham although it is unclear as to whether this will be before next month with the possible need for another striker to the end of the season and the loan transfer window slamming shut at 5p.m tomorrow (Thursday). Basically there could be a significantly different line up which is frustrating when the team have been playing well but Murray and Tomlin did slot in seamlessly for the Shrewsbury match.

A huge gap in form but the pessimist inside me thinks that Northampton are due a win at some point after an appalling run of form in recent months. We will also be missing a couple that have improved our play and pushed us on though we thankfully we still have Robinson and Tomlin to call on. On the other hand Branston, Stanley and Zebs have also been outstanding so hopefully our superb run will continue.

The significant change to the starting line up is annoying as that seemed to be a winning formula for the team. I'm sure, however, that Buckle wil be able to keep the same ethic going in the team and hopefully we'll be able to still play some attractive football and (more importantly) win the game! I think without a doubt this is a winnable match. The theory is there, now we just need the performance.

yeah 3 points there for the taking, but i do think this wont be easy, the only problem i have in a game this, can we keep our concentration against one of the weaker outfits in our league,as long as we go out with the same attitude and desire that we have had in our last few games, the points will be coming home...simon

After reverting to the yellow kit for the Bury game I hope the washing machine has been in action since Tuesday night to get the 'yellow' prepared for our last away evening game on the fixture list (pending any play off games..?? ) rather than play in the black away strip

When I was a kid I just thought judging by the sound of the name Northampton, it had to be up somewhere near Scotland and how wrong I was, still it’s a place or football ground I have never been to. Checking the Six Fields out on the web it does look a very good ground and the ground itself even has its own website. I would imagine the ground generates plenty of money for the club. Am I correct when I say the last time we beat Northampton away was in 2003? If that is the case then we are well overdue a win at their place and I feel its going to happen tomorrow night. I sure called it wrong where Young Murray is concerned, I felt that as Bucks took him off so early in the first half of a recent away game, that he maybe was not the sort of player Bucks was looking for. After his wonderful performance on Tuesday night, I now feel we are going to miss him badly in this game. That said I’m sure Billy Kee will want to try and impress Bucks and if he does start the match, I would put a bet on he would get on the score sheet. We all know how important it is to win as many games as we can between now and the end of the season, what a tonic promotion would be after recent big disappointments. Hard to say how the game will go, will it be like the two last away games? You know a back to the wall job in the first half and a great second half that we dominate and are far the better team? I would not be surprised if that is how the game pans out and won’t mind one bit at all as long as we come away with all three points. Some pictures of Six Fields.

Tough game tonight - probably to close to call so maybe 0-0. Anything more would evidence real promotion prospects, anything less could see a playoff place become less likely (after other results tomorrow). Could go to the wire, especially if PB can keep pulling rabbits out of the hat!

Lovely ground shame their fans think that they are a massive club though, I`ve looked at a few independant fans sites and their fans are so far up them selves that they are nigh on invisible! I wouldn`t be too worried if we were playing a top club in the league, it always worries me when we play someone that`s down near the bottom!

Glorious opportunity tonight to push for a promotion spot. As aussie mentioned earlier though, if we were playing a top team I would feel more confident than playing Northampton who aren't that far off the bottom! A point wouldn't be a total disaster after last Tuesdays result, but three would be oh so much better!

A journey interrupted on the way up plus weary legs from Tuesday will take a toll on the team tonight. Because of that I'd be delighted if we get a point, either that or the other teams don't overtake us.
**Edit** kick-off confirmed as being delayed!
**edit 2** you can still get 13/8 for a home win, don't think all the cookies have caught-on what's happening.
