As in many of Timbo's programmes, there's a reference to the commentaries of Derek Brad. In this programme from April 1956 it is in the context of a service provided to Torbay Hospital. In my ignorance it wasn't until relatively recently that I realised one person had been involved in this for such an amazingly long time. Upon his retirement from the role in 2008, the Herald Express reported that Derek Brad had been providing commentaries since 1953: www.thisissouthdevon.co.uk/news/Plainmoor-voice-hangs-mike/article-293759-detail/article.html Good profile about Harry Smith and how he joined Torquay United on the recommendation of "a hawk-eyed, soccer-minded Sergeant who spotted him while he was playing in RAF football".
