Another 4 goals rattled in against Bradford City which was the 3rd of a remarkable sequence of 12 consecutive home league and cup games where we scored 48 goals, an incredible average of 4 a game.

With 17 conceded making a total of 65 Plainmoor goals in only 12 games (5.41 per game) entertainment value was certainly high!

The sequence came to an end I suppose predictably with a 0-0 draw against Oxford United at Christmas.

Score more than them seemed to be the philosophy with 8-3 against Newport, 6-2 against Bradford (Park Avenue), 6-2 against Barnet, and 4-2 against Hartlepools.

We only failed to outscore our opponents in one of those games, a 2-3 FA Cup 2nd round reverse to Aldershot.

Even outside of that sequence of 12 games we put in some storming home performances, a 3-0 revenge against Aldershot for our FA Cup defeat, a 4-0 against Stockport County, and a 3-0 against Brighton.

We had no nickname in those days but I am sure that GULLS is just an evolution and has it's roots in GOALS!! ;D
