Buckland made their way up the m5 motorway to play Taunton Town in the FA cup preliminary round.
Taunton play two steps higher in the pyramid, Buckland new this was not going to be an easy game, they new that they would have to be on top form to get anything out of this game.
A large following had made the journey by train cars and bus to swell the crowed to over 200.
On a perfect surface Buckland started to play some good open football with Danny Gaze finding a lot of room on the left. Buckland got the opening goal early on when a cross from the right found EX Taunton favourite just nick the ball in front of the defender and volley the ball home with the keeper stranded, he celebrated in front of the Bucks faithfull who went into a wild frenzy.
Buckland nearly doubled this lead when Danny Lewis was put through but with only the keeper to beat put his shot narrowly wide of the post.
Bucklands keeper who missed the midweek win over Tavistock through injury was struggling and it looked only a matter of time that he would be replaced by Neil Montandon.
The referee brought a end to the half, we knew that it was going to be a back to the wall 45 minutes.
Taunton pressed and pressed, the defence was under extreme pressure and it was only matter of time when the peacocks would score.
A corner was saved by Kenny Griffiths who pushed the ball onto the crossbar the ball came out to Danny Lane who forced the ball home 1-1 with time running out and with Taunton going for the winner Buckland were playing on the break one of these breaks found Gary Fisher in space and running down on goal, Gary went to ground as it looked as he was clipped from behind as the referee put his whistle to his mouth but to the astonishment of the away dugout booked Gary for diving, he tried to prove his innocence as why would he gone down if he was not fouled.when in on goal with only the keeper to beat.
Taunton put more pressure on the yellows defence with two corners in the 7th minute of injury time but with Ben Williamson standing firm this would have been an injustice if they had scored
Right on time Danny Gaze had a free kick on the edge of the box with the keeper unsighted Gazey put the ball over the wall but hit the bar.
The referee brought an end to the game and both teams would be doing it all again at the heath on Tuesday 7.30 kick off.
Summary of the game , excellent game played by two committed teams, fair result as both teams did not deserve to loose.
My MOM Mike Booth attendance got told by a Taunton official 219 i thought there was more like 300

I just knew this would end in a draw and clash with Torquays reserve game against Brighton. So unfortunately I wont be able to make it to Homers Heath for the replay but congrats on a terrific performance/result and hope that you can gain some much needed money for winning the tie and an enjoyable trip to the coast to play our old conference friends, Weymouth.
