What a significant date next Friday. Being an ex-serviceman, this time of year is a time of reflection and remembrance. even if you do not agree with wars etc, it is a time to remember loved ones who have passed on.
I am the treasurer of my local Royal British Legion Branch and at the start of every meeting we remember The Fallen. The poem that has given us the passage spoken at Remembrance Sunday is called The Fallen published in The Times in 1914
For The Fallen
With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children, England mourns for her dead across the sea. Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of spirit, Fallen in the cause of the free.
Solemn the drums thrill: Death august and royal Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres. There is music in the midst of desolation And a glory that shines upon our tears.
They went with songs to the battle, they were young, Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow. They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted, They fell with their faces to the foe.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.
They mingle not with laughing comrades again; They sit no more at familiar tables of home; They have no lot in our labour of the day-time; They sleep beyond England's foam.
But where our desires are and our hopes profound, Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight, To the innermost heart of their own land they are known As the stars are known to the Night;
As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust, Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain, As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness, To the end, to the end, they remain.
Laurence Robert Binyon, 1869-1943

......indeed Stu, great posting there - I also being ex-Forces (D171482W - RN - Apl 78-Aug 01) always think of lost mates this time of year (a couple from the Falklands conflict for one) and in particular my Remembrance thoughts for a great mate of mine Mark MacLaren (RN) taken tragically young whilst on active service in Kuwait 1991 - I still miss you terribly Mark - "Forever young, forever fair"......
......also I spare a thought for our brave lads and lasses of HM Forces around the world at the moment, especially those out in the sand kicking weird-beard ass for the good of democracy and free speech, in particular 2nd Couz Liam (a Corporal in 5 Rifles)..........

I come from an Army family, tho I didn't go in much to my father's annoyance. I too will have a quiet moment of reflection for our fallen heroes. I'm sure the Thais will wonder what I'm up to when they see me standing head bowed and silent in my office, but our brothers need to be honoured.
I get so mad when I think of our boys fighting wars on behalf of the world elite and private ***** banking cartels. Our brothers and sisters being sent to make the ultimate sacrifice while they sit in their cosy existance plotting how to further rip us off. Politicians of all colours pander to their paymasters while the "Tommies" pay the price. Lions led by Donkeys.

Quite rightly, the club has got involved with the ticket for troops offer as we come up to this solemn weekend. Not sure if all you ex-servicemen are eligible though!

Dave, whilst I am very angry at what the banks have done to this country, and deeply sad at every death of a service man/woman, I take great issue with you referring to it as Jewish banking cartels. Such phrases are what stereotypes are built on, anti-semitism has no place on this site or anywhere else...

A record 46,000,000 poppies sold this year so shows how the public are engaging with the services who have and continue to make the ultimate sacrifice.

Such phrases are what stereotypes are built on, anti-semitism has no place on this site or anywhere else... So which Rothschild/ Rockeller bit did you take your PC offence to? This is the usual response to anyone pointing out the culprits. Play the anti-semitism card. So are you saying they arn't jewish? As for steroetypes, baloney! As it happens Israelis are the most ignorant, rude, unpleasant, obnoxious people I have ever had the misfortune to meet. If they're the chosen ones then they're welcome to whatever it is they think they're going to get. Many of my family members have served their country, usually to protect the banking cartels and their interests. So i think that gives anyone the right to question their motives. Or is that only the preserve of our jewish friends?

"We are grateful to the Washington Post, The New York Times, Time Magazine and other great publications whose directors have attended our meetings and respected their promises of discretion for almost forty years." "It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subjected to the lights of publicity during those years. But, the world is now more sophisticated and prepared to march towards a world government. The supranational sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the national auto-determination practiced in past centuries." -- David Rockefeller (1915- ) Internationalist billionaire, CFR kingpin, founder of the Trilateralist Commission, World Order Godfather June 1991 Baden, Germany Source: Bilderberger Meeting, Baden, Germany quotes.liberty-tree.ca/quote_blog/David.Rockefeller.Quote.103D"The interests behind the Bush Administration, such as the CFR, The Trilateral Commission -- founded by Brzezinski for David Rockefeller -- and the Bilderberger Group, have prepared for and are now moving to implement open world dictatorship within the next five years.
