After football today, we (the team) were having a discussion about the best and worst grounds we've ever been to. Here are some of my answers: BestWembley Stadium. A wonderful piece of architecture. Old Trafford. Not called the Theatre of Dreams for nothing. WorstThanks to Romford Kev because I stole these pics from other threads. Went to Bourne Park, Sittingbourne last week. I know they're a few divisions below us, but this was shoddy at best. The turnstiles were portacabins and the fence that you can see in the picture was so badly put together it was laughable. The ground is in a horrible area and why they didn't stay in the greyhound stadium, I'll never know. Also Stonebridge Road, Northfleet. Absolute dive. I think that's all that needs to be said on that! Another horrible experience is St. James' Park, Exeter. Although I have to say it's quite nice now they've done it up. The away end is still a joke though. Talking of horrible away ends, is there a worse one in League football than Edgar Street, Hereford? I'd love to know...

I've always had a bit of a soft spot for Edgar Street! I know it's dilapidated and the away supporters are shoved away in the corner behind an awful iron fence but it still feels like a "real" ground, unlike Walsall, Chester et al with their dreary identikit stadiums! It's also my third most visited ground after Plainmoor and Sid James Park! There was a time in the early nineties where we seemed to be away to Hereford in at least 2 cup competitions every season!!
As for best grounds, I'd have to agree that the new Wembley is awesome. I have visited both the Nou Camp and the Bernabeu and whilst they are both incredible I think the Bernabeu just feels like more of a football ground whereas at the Nou Camp (complete with 30,000 capacity mini ground next door!!) you seem so much further from the action!!
Worst ground: Moss Rose is pretty dreadful and I seem to remember Farnborough being dire (influenced maybe by our 4-3 defeat there!). I would have to go with the aforementioned Deva Stadium though, you'd struggle to find a more soulless place to watch a football match!

Wembley Stadium. A wonderful piece of architecture. I was taking in the panorama from the terrace of Terminal 5 at Heathrow as dawn broke the other morning..............in addition to the medieval splendour of Windsor Castle to the West, there were the green runway lights stretching out before me with around half a dozen planes in line varying distances away, landing lights on preparing to land; and to the East the surreal white lit Wembley Arch glowing beneath a pink and grey sky just as in your picture!

Best: Wembley old and new Worst: Beesands - SDL got wet on the right wing!!! Had a few interesting memories from playing for Harbertonford. Played out in the sticks somewhere. went to their changing room and eventually got my turn in the showers. The water was freezing, what little there was. Suddenly it seemed to get warm. I exclaimed, "hey, the water is getting warm!!". the rather large chap next to me said, " no it's not, I'm pisssing on your leg!". As it was so cold, it was a blessing and I didn't object

Have to say that Is a magic picture Of Wembley, I only went to Edgar Street once, It was pouring with rain and as so many games were against Hereford In those days, It was a boring draw.
We were not put In any away end, but In a narrow main stand, up one end and I,m sure the road running behind this stand must have been Edgar street.

I know it's dilapidated and the away supporters are shoved away in the corner behind an awful iron fence but it still feels like a "real" ground, unlike Walsall, Chester et al with their dreary identikit stadiums! As always Jezza, I completely agree with what you have to say. Just because they're the worst stadiums I've been to, doesn't mean I don't love them! Rusty old stadiums with character >>>> Wonderful structure stadiums >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Ikea Stadiums To add to Stuart's story, I remember being at Home Park before it was done up. I entered the ground and popped into the gents (it was two hours on the bus from where I lived to Plymouth) and the urinal was a wall roughly five feet high. So I'm trying to go while hundreds of fans file past me merely inches away. Needless to say I got the stagefright and had to wait for a cubicle to free up. I should probably also point out I was about 14 at the time. The picture of Wembley that I put up is indeed awesome, although I'm pretty sure it's one of those artist impression jobs from before the stadium was built.
