All the Hereford programmes I've seen from that period, and during their early years in the Football League, have the same type of cover design. Maybe with a photograph once they stepped up to join the League.
Programme notes from John Charles - who else? - and a reminder that Torquay United would have been a big "draw" at that time.
Take a look at Hereford's league opponents and remember that, in those pre-Conference days, these would have constituted the best non-league teams in the southern half of the country (together with the top London "amateurs"). Note those crowds against Worcester, two of which are in the Southern League Cup which has really died a death in recent seasons. This year it's not even compulsory for clubs to enter..
The man in the middle? Clive Thomas of Treorchy. I bet he'd have fancied himself as the most famous Welshman on the pitch.
Next up at Edgar Street: Wellington Town. That's Telford United in old money.
