Royal Marines 1 Buckland Athletic 8
Buckland played basement side Marines yesterday, at Endurance park, and came out easy winners.
The Marines are not having the best of seasons and are struggling this season .
The conditions were not the best, as a strong wind was blowing diagonally accross the pitch, the elements favoured the home team but this was not a day to be playing flowing football.
Buckland new that to be going in at half time and not to have conceeded would have been a bonus. The central pairing of Marc Revell and Gary Fisher were having excellent games, with Gary putting in a man of the half award.
With half time approaching and the scores even a free kick outside the box was awarded, to the yellows Danny Gaze stepped up, and with every one thinking he was going to shoot he floated the ball to the far post where the gaffer forced the ball home. a couple of minutes later Mike Booth incresed the lead for Buckland to go in at the break winning 2-0.
Buckland now had the strong wind behind them and further goals from Si Revell A Lynch 2, C Wright, new signing Ben Clarvis who has been released from the gargs down the road. and a own goal completed the scoring, for the yellows.
Credit must go to The Marines who never gave up, and probably scored the best goal of the game with a long shot which gave the Bucks keeper, no chance .
Buckland now move up to 4th in the league with games in hand.
Also praise to the Buckland followers, who made up three quarters of the crowd,as the marines are very poorly supported team
The team are in real danger of getting relegated.
Mom, any body who scores a hat trick must be mom so Gaffer Antony Lynch.
