If you'd have told me four years earlier that the Man United star I had just seen scoring a brilliant Wembley hat-trick against West Germany would end up playing for Crewe Alexandra* I would not have believed you.
*For younger readers, pre-Gradi Crewe was nowhere near as sexy as post-Gradi Crewe.

Thanks as ever to Timbo for his programme posting. It's a shame we've grown rather negligent in our response.
That’s an interesting article from Alan about programme collecting. I wonder if he coined the word “programologist” or whether it was a recognised term at the time.
Is it just me but I doubt if programme collecting is anything like the hobby it once was?
And what about the typeface for Mike Green’s notes? Most quaint.
What a great name for a referee – Les Burden of Wimborne, Dorset.
Any relation to the comedian Billy Burden who came from the same town? I’m sure I saw him at the Princess Theatre before he became briefly famous.......

Apparently the late great Billy - I'm now sure I saw him in panto, most likely as "Buttons" - once visited Plainmoor in some sort of celebrity role and claimed to be Les's cousin. You live and learn.
