So once again, we head into the final game of the season with it all still to play for and for those of a nervous disposition, just keep thinking, it is only a season of consolidation! Regardless of the result, it should be a cracking match with a full stadium and both teams under pressure to perform but in the knowledge that even a win will not be enough if results don't go their way elsewhere and we could all be crying in our beer together! To be fair to Lingy, he did say that 84 points would be enough to clinch things a few weeks ago and so it may well prove. He has been here before though when exactly six years ago, Leyton Orient beat Oxford to gain promotion while at the same time relegating them to the conference. Amazing how history repeats itself though; in that game Chris Hargreaves and Lee Mansell turned out for Oxford and I am sure Manse appreciates not being in quite the same position again. In true "Torquay style," it took an injury time winner after initially going behind for Leyton to go up with a 2-3 scoreline! I think a few weeks without any midweek games has helped our squad banish a lot of that tiredness and barring injury, it should be the same XI that started against Crewe. I think having a side that has got to attack us will suit us and am hopeful of getting the right result. As for Hereford, they did us a favour last week by beating Crawley which was their first win since coming out on top against Morecambe on March 10th. Overtaking Barnet won't be easy for them as they are past masters of escaping the drop and if they do go down will have every sympathy for their situation!

what a nerve jangler this is,the one game in the football league with so much riding on it,and as per usual we are involved. The irony is we played our last game against hereford in our bsp relegation season, now it could be their turn.Someone or both of us will miss out on saturday,a tense torrid 90 minutes of fluctuating fortunes for a few clubs. This game will capture media attention for obvious reasons, lets hope we gain that for positive reasons

This will be a rare away trip for me. We decided several weeks ago to go to this match as it is my son's 13th. birthday. I had a feeling several weeks ago it could be a crunch match, both the top and bottom of the league has been very close. 5 of us, all family members, will be going there including my parents.
It is funny to note that over the years the 5th. May, my son's birthday, has coincided with some crunch Torquay games and has made it a tense day. In 2001 5th. May - it was the day of the Barnet great escape - that really made his birthday memorable! The 4-1 defeat against Exeter in the play-offs was also on 5th. May - not such a good birthday. So it's 3rd. time lucky.
I will be going to the Hereford game with the same attitude that has worked very well this season - with low expectations. I did not expect much this season, I would have been happy just to be clear of the relegation picture. Instead I have been continually pleasantly surprised how well we have done and I don't want to build my hopes up now. Personally I think Southend are going to sneak it. They must surely beat already relegated Macclesfield at home. I am not convinced us or Crawley will win our tricky looking away matches. But end-of-season matches have a habit of producing some surprising score-lines. Remember how we raced into a 3-0 lead against Barnet in THAT match within the first 30 minutes. So we shall see who produces something special out of Torquay, Crawley, Southend, Hereford or Barnet. At least we are at the right end this time - yes it will be a nervy day but nothing like what Barnet and Hereford must be feeling. I'm really looking forward to seeing lots of yellow army there, it should be a great atmosphere.

0-1 A ploy to get Cheltenham in the play offs perhaps! 0-2 Oh dear. 0-3 It gets worse by the minute. Feel sorry for those who believed and travelled. Crawley will get the point they need and must be laughing all the way to League one. What a way to surrender.

I´ve got a funny feeling that Southend are going to snatch third spot! As things stand, I hope you had a punt. No need for all of us to be completely pissed off.

Always thought we would face Crawley at Wembley! Not so sure we have enough to get past Cheltenham and get there now though. After playing Crewe and Southend in recent matches and although we had great spirit in both games we looked a class below, especially last week even when we played our best football for months.

One more back Hereford must be cacking their pants.
But now Creepy winning. Best if it stays like this if Creepy win.

It was all for nothing in any case as predicted Creepy crept in to League one on the last day.
Cheltenham my preference out of the three teams but cant say I'm confident still another 180 minutes of torture to endure. Cant be bad though I still think we looked a gift horse in the mouth in March when we didn't strengthen the squad and if we do fail miserably in the next week or two it will come back to haunt ML.
