I'm happy to chip in, although I won't be hear for the semis or the final
I suppose you probably don't want threads for every match - perhaps just threads for the England (and Ireland?) matches, along with threads for the other groups?

That's ok James if you are only going to do the England and Ireland games you won't need to be here for the semis or the final

Thanks for that James, I was thinking mainly of the England matches with more general group threads but if you want to do one for our Irish cousins then go ahead.

I have a feeling Ireland will cause a few surprises. If they play the way they did in 2002, they will frustrate the hell out of Spain and Italy
I think England might yet do well too, for a number of reasons:
- Low expectations
- Roy is a clever manager and will adapt his tactics depending on the opponent (something Redknapp would never have done)
- England have actually been playing quite well in most of their recent matches
- With Lampard out, we don't have to put up with him and Gerrard failing to work together again (although to be honest, I think it would have been better if it was Gerrard that was out and not Frank)
- It's the year of reactive football. Possession football is no longer as dominant at the top as it was a year ago: Real Madrid beat Barcelona in La Liga; Chelsea won the Champions League; Atletico Madrid beat Athletic Bilbao in the Europa League Final. This is probably the way England will play (albeit in a particularly English way...though hopefully not too English)
- It would be just my luck to be out of the country on the one occasion England do well in a major tournament
However, it's only going to go one of two ways: either England will do ridiculously well (semis, final, winning it perhaps) or they'll crash out in the groups

I shall be in Florence for the duration of the Quarter-Finals stage so am hoping for Italy v England to set up an interesting evening in a Florentine bar. Forza Italia! Forza gli azzurri!
