I am embarrassed to admit that I have never heard of Luke Guttridge. Does he play for Paignton Villa?

Ha! I take it you refer to Bovey's player manager. Didn't Ellis feature in Garry Nelson's season?

A brief spell as Bovey's manager I think, Wildebeeste. And, yes, Ellis was probably there alongside Garry Nelson.
A lot of our former players have either become Bideford or Taunton - how you say? - "legends".
Ellis was both.

I believe he took charge of the Pigs Sheffield United v Crewe Alexandra game which Barton Downs attended a few weeks back. If he had been a total disaster I'm sure Barton would have mentioned it. I tend to notice referees less than most people. But I can't remember anything untoward. Unlike at Hillsborough on Tuesday when there was considerable anger directed at the referee prior to him going off injured. And towards Dave Jones. As well as the unfortunate Bothroyd.... |

Thanks for that AJ...I hadnt seen that article. It is correct that he is a resident of the Parish of Long Eaton!! My source tells me that he had a lovely night at The Grand last night and will be back locally later for a night on the "Long Eaton strip". Anyway lets hope he brings us some luck today and the Pop dont give him a hard time (as if!! ;D) |
