Not forgetting Park United of the North Devon League who also play at Sandymere. They haven't a game today so they're having a dug out building day.
And what of Northam Lions? Where are they?

Not sure I will ask when I'm up there next week. Talking about 3g pitches, what are the rules these days about league clubs playing on them? While checking for local games to watch on Saturdays, I noticed that one South Devon League team plays their home matches on the new Paignton 3g pitch. I will pop along there one Saturday and do a report from there.

Must admit I'd not heard of this miniature railway. That said, it is only 550 yards long
Shares its name with another sports venue in Paignton

Ah, the joy. Once saw Peter Kirsten score 206 not out on this ground, in the same match as the incident in which Glamorgan's Malcolm Nash hammered the ball into the face of Phil Russell, fielding at short leg. The ball stuck in the bars of Russell's helmet and as he fell, bleeding, to the ground some of his team mates appealed for a catch. Umpire Dickie Bird had to make a decision off the top of his head, the circumstances not being yet covered by the rules, and gave Not Out on the basis that the ball was dead the moment it hit the helmet. Russell went to hospital and the unsettled Nash was out next ball anyway. The park in which the ground is situated is a very popular haunt for young lovers who make use of its good snogging facilities and once, long ago, it was also the venue for a young lad's first experience with an illicit substance. Nice pictures, Barton.....

I can't believe that Clive hasn't been there This club has been around for 129 years and last year's league championship was their first ever promotion. According to Wikipedia two current Championship managers with the same first name both played for them. That's two clues for the price of one.
