I'll keep people guessing but thanks for the pictures because I wanted to see how it had changed since I was there in 1997. I may make a journey because it's not far and a decent level of football. On a par with Mansfield!

On a par with Mansfield! Surprised at you, Barton. How can "decent" be equated with "on a par with Mansfield?"

Barton's clues are too subtle for fans living in far off Devon so here are a couple of more obvious pointers: Mansfield's local rivals!

I was at Alfreton one Christmas - a trip over by road from Liverpool. 1997 if I'm correct.
The main change is all those seats in strange places.
You're right. Not much guessing going on about grounds. Alpine Joe knew Walton Casuals; but no response to my other two. That may be because the "grounds types" on this site have mainly disappeared. Or, perhaps, the stuff about other clubs has lost its appeal.

Well, Stefano, Alpine Joe has provided a clue to one by identifying another.
The derelict place was the home of one of big London amateur sides.

The club with the running track once gave Cloughie a nasty shock.
The wrecked place is not so far from where they train the boys in blue.

Walton & Hersham gave Cloughie's Brighton a 4-0 spanking so....
I'm guessing wildly now but might the wrecked place have belonged to one of the two parts of Hayes and Yeading?

Walton and Hersham it is.
As for the other, I'm reminded of the old slogan "neither Washington nor Moscow but international socialism".
Neither Hayes nor Yeading but......?

Right must dash. It's ok for those of you who live near enough to walk to Plainmoor!!

It's the obvious for once.
Hendon's old ground at Claremont Road.
