I think it was the Hampshire media tweeting '#GOSHOTS' and the players' fat wives shouting 'In the Net In the Net!' every time their goalkeeper took a goal kick!!!!
That puts a totally different complexion on the league table. Will this change Martin Ling's mind about bringing-in a loanee given that Jarvis and Yeoman came-on and were hugely influential in getting that comeback going? I think if Nathan Craig came-through the match OK and Lathrope is that little bit closer to coming-back then I think he will hold fire.

Could not get to the game tonight. What an amazing comeback and what a lift for all Gulls fans. Just when things were all looking doom and gloom. From despair to sheer bliss in 40 odd minutes. At least I enjoyed the commentary on Radio Devon.

Certainly a game of two halves (as they all are in a literal sense). The first half was a drab affair and I'm still wondering how they went in 2 down! To be fair, neither team looked like scoring, certainly not aided by the rain which started persisting, hampering any attempt to play neat football. First goal was from a corner, the second Joe O brought the player down in the area, the third a break down the left, Joe lost his footing on the slippery surface and the ball went into the danger area and got stabbed in the net. Game over you would have thought. Howe (I think?) had a shot parried and Bodin tucked away the rebound. Cue thoughts that we could come back, and Jarvis on for Stevens. This got the Shots defence worried as they now had to cope with 2 players up front and they started getting jittery (even Guy). Bit of a goalmouth scramble following a corner maybe and Jarvis slipped the 2nd one in. The Shots were all over the place now and there was a definite chance of something out of the match. Craig soon put a wickedly curling powerful cross into the area and someone got a head on it, Yeoman by all accounts, and we were level. There was only 1 team going to get a winner and so it transpired. Howe picked up the ball out left, played a one-two with someone and tucked it into the corner. Cue wild celebrations all over.
Nathan Craig was MoM and also had the highlight of the match IMO. He was fouled in our half, got up and saw the keeper off his line and stroked a lovely ball that got carried a bit by the wind and ever so almost went in, though the keeper was back pedalling like mad and just got enough of his fingertips on it to tip it past the woodwork.

Just got back from the match. The three goals conceded were all stupid and sloppy and when we went 3 down at the start of the second I thought it was all over. However somehow we dragged ourself back into the game and once the second went in Aldershot rarely looked a threat, which in truth they barely did throughout the game, I'm still not sure how they managed 3 goals. All in all an awesome comeback, indeed a very unlike Torquay comeback. When I was leaving the stadium I was thinking these mid week horrid weather autumn/winter games are exactly the type you need to grind results out of if you want to go up; and I'm sure it's going to have a massive confidence boost for the team.
Bit disappointed at the attendance, I know the weather was fairly bad but I thought the two for one offer might have drawn more people in.

Ditmar - I think you may have combined two separate passages of play in to one. Not surprising in such an incident filled match.
Craig did indeed show good anticipation and improvisation when he took a quick free kick from the half way line but that particular shot failed to reach the goal and was easily dealt with by the keeper. Two blokes next to me chastised him for wasting the free kick but I admired his quick thinking and audacity.
The other effort was a Nico 'clearance' from almost in his own area which flew towards the Shots goal and bounced off the wet turf on the edge of the box gathering enough pace to loop over the keeper who just managed to leap backwards and tip it over the bar! What a goal that would have been!
One of those memorable games that will stay in the memory for a long time. The more I see of Nathan Craig the more I think he is a very talented footballer who will one day earn us a good return on Ling's gamble. And Rene also impresses more and more - one highlight tonight was the unselfish way that he picked out Jarvis at the far post for the second goal when it looked like he was going to shoot himself.

Possibly the game of the season..... Just a pity that Aldershot decided to kick towards the Babbacombe end first as six goals were scored in the away end. We certainly didn't deserve to be 3 down but kept our heads up and got back one quickly and were able to create sustained pressure to keep the scoreboard ticking over and pave the way for an unforgettable comeback! Branston found his way back into the line up and got a brief round of applause just before kick off. The answer as to what happens when an irresistible force hits an immovable object was solved with Branston needing treatment after an early tangle with Rene. The first chance came on 10 minutes when a Bodin shot right centre and just outside the area looked to be in but just swerved wide of the top corner at the last moment. Rene had a chance from a slightly wider position but again it was off target. Although I thought we had the slightly better of the half it was Aldershot that broke the deadlock when Mansell gave a free kick away near the corner of the penalty area (was it really a foul?) Unfortunately and to my shame, I was just picking up a fiver I had dropped when a distant cheer announced their goal which was flicked into the net. Funny enough, only 9 away fans were behind the goal with the majority choosing the splendour of the bench. As if things couldn't get any worse, an Aldershot attack on the right wing saw their man cross the ball in but in the meantime as the ball was delivered, Oastler and Reid had ended up in a heap together within the area. (Anyone closer see this?) Result: yellow card to Oastler and a penalty which was expertly tucked away low into the corner. So two down at half time and within 20 seconds of kick off, the ball was not cleared in our area and although Poke saved from a narrow angle, the ball fell kindly for Reid to complete his hat-trick (I did say he was their danger man! ) So, the king of all comebacks was needed. Thankfully, a chance opened up and although it took three attempts, the ball eventually fell to Bodin to force home. I think Aldershot naturally then tried to consolidate their gains inviting us to attack - well, it has happened to us enough times in the past. Danny managed to create some space but his cross/shot went out near the corner flag and Ling immediately brought on Jarvis, pushing Bodin out wide instead. This bought instant dividends and with Rene on the ball he was able to turn provider for Jarvis to slide the ball home. Very definitely game on! Next substitution was Yeoman who was an inspired choice to bring on scoring the equaliser from a cross by Craig after receiving the ball from a short corner. Some of the deliveries by Craig today were excellent and he looks the real deal on the ball and in my mind we have an Eunan ready replacement and was the best player on the field. One feature was when he took a very quick free kick on the half way line and tried to lob the keeper and although it ended up being a comfortable catch, it was the same rapid mindset that Eunan had displayed against Plymouth. Mind you, Nicholson almost went one better and a clearance from his own area almost went in with their keeper just managing to tip the ball after its first bounce over the cross bar and preventing a you-tube sensation! To some extent, the injuries within the squad have meant Ling has had to play the youngsters and I think he has uncovered some real gems but is he a good general or a lucky general? Anyway, as the match reached its climax, it was left to big Rene to thunder the ball into the back of the net with just two minutes left on the clock. There were five minutes of extra time (six actually played!) but this was run down well with some delightful interchanges towards the corners with the crowd by now in full flow wildly applauding every throw in! Lingy promised some attacking football, which we got along with a big bag of sweeties!

Superb fight back. That's what we like to see, players still giving it a go. One minute we were all hoping the match was going to be abandoned because of the heavy rain, next minute we were glad it wasn't. A thoroughly entertaining evening, the 2012 sporting miracles just keep on coming. I think this has to be one of the best comebacks although Jon will no doubt correct me if I'm wrong. We were 3-0 down to Lincoln in 3rd round of FA Cup (1971?) and won 4-3. This could be the latest we have turned it round because I think with Lincoln it was 3-0 at half-time. A good chunk of the value of my season ticket paid off last night. Well done Martin Ling and the team for a great 'never say die' spirit.

Oh dear, did some people really boo the referee after we'd come back from being three down? If so, that strikes me as rather sad. But, there again, I'll confess to being bored stiff by constant criticism of referees. It's almost a matter of routine that each is the worst anybody's ever seen. At least since last week. Good grief, to my mind anyway, breathing fire about the officials always seems an odd way to enjoy your football. But that's a hobby horse of mine so I'll not go on.
More to the point last night certainly doesn't sound an occasion for carping at the final whistle. Instead I would have thought it was one to relish. Indeed, I'm sure most people enjoyed the moment and appreciated you don't see comebacks like that too often. FA Cup against Lincoln 1970/71, anyone? (Whoops, I think somebody else has got there first on that one).
A reminder too that the relationship between drama and the bigger occasions is an inexact one. You get a Saturday game against Plymouth in front of a decent crowd and - by all accounts - it's a bit dull. Then a few weeks later, after a couple more damp squibs, it's a wet day, a small crowd and.......
That's football. You can never guarantee thrills, excitement and drama. Equally you never know when they might come along in abundance. That's the appeal. Yet you don't half have to persevere to understand that.
Not a point to be laboured this morning, but one we may contemplate when we next discuss why more people don't come to matches.

Oh dear, did some people really boo the referee after we'd come back from being three down? Hard to believe I know Bart. I thought he didnt have too bad a game. The popside lino got the usual barracking from the crowd for supposed wrong throwins. Most of the free kicks given against both sides seemed fair enough if perhaps a little picky. I thought he might have been a bit more lenient with the surface being pretty slippy but he seemed pretty even handed, if the BBC stats are to be believed he penalised the Shots more than us

The crowds reaction to the referee's performance was understandable, and that's coming from a former Devon League referee myself. You would expect the performance of a referee on the 'elite list' to be better than the 'ordinary ones' we usually get to see at Plainmoor. Another elite referee ,Roger East, had a very disappointing game at Plainmoor earlier in the season as well. Neither struck me as being top flight!

Attwell has been removed from the elite list - he was demoted back to the FL in February. He may still be on the FIFA list for international matches, though

In the 4th round we went out away to Frank O'Farrell's Leicester City
