So after sacking Brian Laws due to a five-game winless streak (and no doubt other reasons), Scunthorpe have responded with a 1-2 win at Fratton Park and a rather surprising 4-0 win at Spotland (albeit after Rochdale were reduced to 9 men in the second half). Caretaker manager Russ Wilcox must be doing something right - the former defender, whose career included stints at Northampton, Hull, Doncaster and Preston before ending with over 100 games at Scunthorpe, was previously caretaker in 2004 and reckons he can get the job permanently. Another former Scunthorpe boss may be standing in his way...
They've certainly got attacking options. International footballers Deon Burton and Chris Iwelumo bring vast experience, while youngsters Winnall and Spencer have decent goalscoring records in League Two, and Reuben Noble-Lazarus has always been highly regarded by parent club Barnsley, having broken the record as the Football League's youngest ever player when he made his debut in 2008 at the age of 15
Line-up vs Rochdale:
Gk Sam Slocombe
Def Christian Ribeiro
Def Andy Dawson
Def David Mirfin
Def Nial Canavan
Mid Sean McAllister
Mid Tony Hawkridge
Mid Dave Syers
Mid Hakeeb Adelakun
For Deon Burton
For Sam Winnall
Subs: James Severn (Gk), Eddie Nolan (Def), Cliff Byrne (Def), Luke Waterfall (Mid), Chris Iwelumo (For), Reuben Noble-Lazarus (For), James Spencer (For)
